Everything is documented w/pictures from the coolant to the towing and the GM has it in detailed writing. They're "gathering information" at his point. I didn't do the survey yet.

Funny they sent me the survey twice and both times, the Start Survey URL led do a dead link. I informed them of that too with a screenshot....and they have since sent out an email with a apology for sending out a non-functional survey.....

hey, this is my dealer too, and I have not had any issues with them and I say so.....

I hope they resolve this quickly... its is hard to understand how a car returning on flatbed with less than 100 miles is not a big deal and senior management not alerted... then it is the CUSTOMER who takes the time and immediately finds issues again... this looks bad.

I would expect them to certify that there wasn't any damage to the LT1 besides fixing the leak.

There is going to be data recorded as to how hot the engine got and for how long. That is one factor, a compression check is another. There might be a pissing match as to whether the OP shut it off soon enough.

There won't be if it's in relationhip to when I got the warning. Because I turned it off almost instantly. Was in a location where there I could just pull into a parking spot and shut it off, which I did.

I've heard from sales manager saying he was going to look into it. Same with GM. That was hours ago. Nothing since. You think the service department contacted me today with any kind of status? Nope.

Warnings are typically designed to alert you prior to damage happening. If you shut it down quickly, there is very little chance of damage, IMHO.

sales mgr said he'll take the car back if I still don't want it after tomorrow. I don't think I do.

i had a similar thing happen after i purchased a 2001 e350 brand new... 36 miles from the dealership it loses all its coolant and gets towed back ..... just a couple hours later and i had a brand new van..... there are just too many things that can go wrong due to a coolant loss like that...some of them might not show up until later on..... if it were me i would go for a different car that was (hopefully) built right.

Give it back and get a new one. Never know what is going on internally. Good luck.

Yeah he just wants me to wait until tomorrow before making a decision. Fine. I don't know how a bad water pump shows up from the factory. How could the seal be bad already? But I don't plan on keeping that one.

Despite all that's happened so far, I think it's great the sales manager has offered to take the car back without too much push back. I know we all agree that's what he should do, but oftentimes in the real world things don't happen the way they should.

Agreed. May also help that he found out I'm a convicted felon (yes, sarcasm).

You are lucky buddy! ask them to give to you another car period! do not hesitate! once a motor overheat even one time forget it!! there is some damages that probably will show up in a year around depending the frequency you drive it.
