rear tire wear

I had a rear tire patched because of picking up a screw. Discount tire showed me that I am down to 3/32 tread left on both rear tires, the front are at 7/32. I only have 1800 miles on my 2ss. I have never turned off the traction control and use sport mode mostly. I have owned a 2011 and a 2014 2ss and always got around 30000 miles out of the stock tires, I do not drive my 2016 any differently, I have a 21.5 average MPG. My dealers service manager said this is not normal and would look into maybe a problem with the car. Anyone else having extreme rear tire wear under reasonable driving conditions?

well my car is not a stang but one day it will be... but I did have a similar problem.. to the point that my front tires would outlast me 3 set of rear tires....... yes 3...
it wasn't until I finally went to a alignment shop and got everything squared away.

What is a stang? Yes I see your point about driving tires not lasting as long as the front tires, but are you wearing out rear tires on a stock car with all traction controls in place in less than 2000 miles?

Go to an alignment shop and get it checked out. If it's off, document it and bring it to the dealer. They should cover the cost of the alignment and replacement tires.

I drive very aggressively. Took the car to the drags. Numerous canyon runs. A half mile of burnouts, literally. I'm at 9k miles and can last another 1k at least.

I am at 14k miles and just checked this morning and have according to the service writer at GM 5k miles left? I was shocked. This is on the rears and they do not touch the wear bars yet but getting close. I drive fairly aggressive and even with traction control on whip the rear out on purpose several times but mostly hwy driving.

It doesn't sound right to have 3/32 tread at 1800 miles. Measure it yourself at the center because I think the edges come with only maybe 5/32 new. I just measured 6/32 at my rear with 5400 miles and 7/32 at front.

premature wear can be because the tires already were low like that when you purchased them, bad alignment, I doubt low tire pressure you'd know that off the bat.

I think the main culprit for excessive wear would be incorrect toe

That normally is the reason.

Thanks for the info, My dealer is trying to get the ok from GM to replace the tires and check the alignment. Anyone with the magnetic ride control, How much smoother is your tour setting compared to the sport setting on not so smooth roads with grooves and raised areas? Even in tour mode I think my 2016 2SS is stiffer on rough roads than my 2014 2SS was with the original perallis on it. I wonder if the magnetic ride control could make the tires wear if not working right?
Thanks Randy
