The reviews were pretty good but it was the butt hurt BMW and mustang owners criticizing the "horrid visibility" comments again that were the most entertaining.

With Blindspot indication in your mirrors and a backup camera the critiques about visibility aren't that concerning to me.

The bar has never been higher. And it shifted into 8th at 170. Wonder what it will do in tenth. The fat cat just coughed up a fur ball.

They say Courtney Force was only able to get a 7.9 eighth mile (stock rubber, but on a real track). That's certainly not stellar. Equals mid 12s if you use NHRA conversion factor.
Normally magazines are able to beat manufacturers times in 0-60 and quarter mile. I've yet to see anyone even really tie the numbers released by Chevy. Someone at team Camaro needs to start working with the magazines to make sure they are actually using the right settings. Launch control with the right RPM and slip factor or some other feature the magazine folks aren't setting could be holding them back. But to be a second slower in the quarter (estimated from that 7.9 eighth) than what they claimed is wayyyyy to slow. Motor Trend got better quarter mile numbers, but nowhere near 11.4. Come one Chevy, get on the ball. Where's Al O. when you need him? |

Camaro supply
The Camaro currently is at a 170 supply number. Ditto with the Vette. Not good. If one wants a Camaro wait a few weeks. The cash rebates will follow big time.

How is 11.5@125mph on 91 octane no where near 11.4@127mph?

The numbers they (motor Trend) were getting from the VBOX when they were running live on their facebook feed were 11.9s and one 11.8. The best they got on 0-60 was 3.9. The review they just posted must have been some other runs (but as far as I know they never re-ran the 0-60 or quarter mile attempts). If they actually ran 11.5, i'd love to see it.
Actually if anyone runs 11.5 I'd love to see it. I'm not saying it can't be done. I don't think Chevy would make it up. I'm just saying usually when a manufacturer posts a time on an unprepped track, those numbers are easily replicated or beaten by magazine folks on similarly unprepped surfaces. Not to mention a 7.9 1/8th on an actual dragstrip. Where are the times for the manuals in the hands of normal folks. There are enough of them out there in the wild now where someone has to have had one to a dragstrip. What are their real world numbers? Did Chevy ever release the manual's numbers? |
