Disappointed...
So about 6 weeks ago I took my Bone stock 2SS 6sp out to the 1/4 mile track and here were the results:
1st run- track mode, nannies on, 13.1 at 112 mph 2nd-track mode, nannies on, 13.0 at 112 mph 3rd- track mode, nannies on, 12.9 at 112 mph (Launch control not activated and I was launching at about 1800 rpms) So then about 2 weeks ago I found a deserted back road and tried 4 runs using launch control and ran 12.6 3 times and 12.7 once with minimal wheel spin (and also using the in-car performance timer). With my new found confidence I headed back to the track hoping launch control would better assist me. Here are the results: 1st run- track mode, launch control on 13.1 at 112 mph 2nd- track mode launch control on at 13.1 and 112 mph I had all kinds of wheel spin using launch control, so I got pissed and turned it off. 3rd run- track mode, launched at 2200 rpm, minimal wheel spin and turned a 12.9 at 111 mph. So, with that being said I am still trying to turn a respectable time that I know this car is fully capable of. I know it's me and not the car, just wondering why the times are so different at the track from when I conduct my own independent runs? Any thoughts or suggestions would be much appreciated from anyone regarding how best to launch (i.e. Use or not use launch control and if not what rpm's to launch at)?

I think the silver wheels make you faster...I'd be willing to trade you mine for your black ones.

I run at Palm Beach International. I have an A8 so it 60 foots really well but the mph sucks. My best mph for my 2017 is 113.5 (65 degrees but humid) but most have been 111 to 112. I went back to racing my firebird.
I haven't seen too many 6th gens run but the ones I have seen haven't been any better. Maybe I need to take a road trip. I'd love to see one of these guys that do really well take a car that doesn't do too well and drive it to see what the car does. |

As Steve also said, go into Track mode with traction control off. Raise the revs at the line but not too high. Slowly release the clutch and as the car starts to move release a little faster. Once the clutch is all the way out plant your right foot to the floor. Now this sounds easy, but this action takes place in under 2 seconds. Practice , practice, practice. Once you get good at this you may feel a good launch in the pit of your stomach. I do. Some people have used launch control to thier advantage but these people are already good at launching the car. One thing though, at times you may get some wheelhop. I did. If you hear a banging get out of it and then resume racing. I cured this with upper and lower trailing arms. Not everyone has problems with wheelhop though, so it may have something to do with track prep and the way I launch the car. I see your MPH is a little low so most likely you are short or slow shifting or both. Try to time your shifts @ around 6,200. And practice shifting. The SS has a nice shifter and a smooth transmission. If you want to get better at shifting look at the link below. I found it helpful. http://www.rangeracceleration.com/Im..._Shifting.html But good choice on going with the M6. To me it is more fun to test yourself as much as the car. Look what Steve did with his M6. I bet Steve has had a ton of seat time. It is especially fun to beat an auto guy that thinks you will be easy pickings.

My 60' times ranges from 2.2xx-2.4xx. Pretty bad I know. The wheel spin off the launch was killing my times. Definitely need to work on that.

Get that 60' down to 1.9 and that will knock off an easy 6 tenths on the big end off your runs with 2.4 60 foots... |

2.2-2.4 60's are the issue. Old adage is that every .1 in the 60 is .2 in the 1320. Decent M6 60's are 1.8-1.9. If you were to get yourself down to 1.9, I'd say it's very plausible that you'd see .4-.8 better 1320 times. Also, these cars seem to do very well with hard shifting. So far, I don't "no lift shift" but I just let out a little and bang right back in.

Man that's pretty much just like blowing the tires off or a complete bog.
My worst 60 ft has been 2.1x and on that run the tires were spinning the whole 60. Completely blown run. On the same night a 1.7x 60 ft got me an 11.80. The 2.1 60 ft got me 12.59. So I picked up .8 in the quarter from .4 better 60 ft. With a 60 ft that bad even your mph will suffer. Just keep practicing or get better tires. Nothing wrong with the car. its just you sorry to say no disrespect. and possibly some terrible conditions/prep idk |

Sometimes it helps to heat up your tires a little and also take a little (but not too much) air out of your tires to get a better launch with less wheel spin.
