Replacing wireless charge area with cubby hole?!
Has anyone ever done this?! It looks like it can be done if I buy these parts..
![]() Kinda pricey, but would reclaim some space! I'll never use the charging malarkey. |

I'm hoping someone comes out with a mod that will expand the wireless charging pad to accept larger phones

great idea but do you just lay the mat over the opening w/o a real lid?

I do not care about the wireless charging as my s7 does fine on a nightly home charge, I would also like to use that area for a small area to store things.

I saw this earlier today online, it looks like a good amount of space there.

Ooh, that would be nice—to reclaim some storage space back there. Even a recessed shelf would be better than the inductive charger.

The wireless charging pad was a nice thought, but making the pad only big enough to support a single Samsung phone from 2013/2014 was dumb. Everything since then with wireless charging (and even newer ickPhones with a sleeve) are larger than the pad supports. They should've done it like the 2015 Malibu cell pockets with a wireless triple coil pad going vertical for the phone to rest on.
For the aftermarket, either a dual 16oz water bottle holder mod or a biometric EDC enclosure to replace that assembly would be amazing. Still my number 1 gripe on the 6th gen, even less cabin storage than the 5th gen (and that was the number two gripe of the 5th gen behind bunker-vision). |
