He's talking about Camaro and Vette.. Nor other models from Chevy that have 20 percent off on 2017.

Hes right, there are no 2017 Camaros or Better with 20 percent off.

The day Chevy releases the tag, yes dealer can assign them to any 2016 Camaro. Must be done on that day.

Second, for Camaro - only 2016 models qualifies for the tag. Chevy is allowing 20% tags on some other 2017 models but not on 2017 Camaros.

Are you insane? Or are you just bad at math? It clearly states on the link you sent: 1135 price reduction, plus 1500 bonus cash=2635 avg total value. That's not even CLOSE to 20% for a '17. That's not even a 7% discount. I've been working with like 5 local dealers and the most they'll take off so for on a '17 is about $3K......again not even CLOSE to 20%.

It doesnt really matter. The subject of this thread was to make sure people know you can get a camaro for invoice minus the 20% tag......(WHERE APPLICABLE)

there were no tag 22ss coupes in mid november in s. florida available.

i approached a dealer and he (the sales manager) took one of his upcoming tags and preemptively -- by a few days -- tagged a suitable car for me, "early." basically he delivered the car before the "closing." it was a perfect color, blue velvet, and with perfect equipment (2ss, 8a only) for ME. he negotiated up some on my trade (eh) and threw in some b/s perks, but did NOT come down on the top line price for the car: msrp -- minus 20 percent. he let me walk ... but i walked right back. yes, he broke me!

he also said the dealer "participated" in the 20 percent discount; he wouldn't say how much. for whatever it matters, i do NOT think the dealer "participates" in the 20 percent tag discount ... i believe that was an ... untruth.

so, bottom line, yes, i took the car for FULL MSRP, with the 20 off! i did it. does anybody remember that king of the hill episode, "hank, i'm going to give you the car for sticker, and not a penny more..."

post script: i haven't seen any 2ss coupes tagged w/ 20 percent off in my area since. yeah, i look every day, i can't help it. so did i get played paying msrp to the dealer, sort of? who knows? depends on perspective, i suppose.

Well, some dealers can tell you to go pound sand, and some will not.

So true.

My local dealer (5 miles from my home) had a 2017 2SS Red Hot with everything I wanted but he won't negotiate despite the approaching winter. The day I was about to sign the papers for a 2016 2SS with a dealer who is 1000 miles from my place, I texted local dealer the snippet of the price sheet with all the discounts and asked if he can do half the discount on his 2017, he replied negative. That 2016 is in my garage and the local dealer's 2017 is still on his lot and am sure will be for at least another 4 months.

Sometimes thats how it goes. Its not like it used to be 30 years ago where you could get up and walk out, and they would chase you onto the lot. Or try to hide your trade keys to keep you in there.

Its seems these days we are out begging for deals. Asking dealers "If" they can do certain prices, rather than telling them what we will pay. Man I wish consumers still had that power. But their slogan of there being an ass for every seat, means there will always someone that will buy any given car. I remember selling cars 20 years ago as a first job, and it was a hustle I'll tell you. Never once do I remember anyone coming in off an ad or just walking in and throwing themselves at the mercy of a salesmanager to get a discount, let alone buy a car.

I think it is so much better now compared to 30 years ago thanks to the internet. One can learn from the experience of others here in this forum and go out and negotiate hard to get the right price. Just know your price point (and be realistic) to walk away and call every dealer coast to coast who has the car you want. Not many are going to be lucky to find a new 2SS for $29k.
