Dealer tried telling me today that the best price that can be had with the tag would be to apply it to the sticker.

So that means they are still selling the car to you for sticker. They need to be discounting the car to invoice, then taking off the red tag percentage. Now thats a good deal.

Funny part of this thread is the dealer that I talked to about this had the car in stock. Well I called a neighboring dealer, and they were willing to dealer trade for that same car and give me it for invoice minus tag which was quite a bit cheaper... LOL silly dealers.

20% off is still a great deal. Yes you can get more (I got 26%) but if a dealer has the car you want and all they'll do is 20% off and you really want the car, I wouldn't necessarily walk.

I would. No dealer should be fooling people into letting them charge sticker for one of these cars no matter how big the factory rebates are. Thats crazy talk. Furthermore there are so many more dealers to call or visit, there is no need to deal with a crap dealer.

I got the 20% off and got mines for 34,500 fully loaded 2ss NPP Every option possible, i thought it was a good deal compared to people who have bought them for over 50k!

Are you talking about '16s and '17s or just '16s?

If can find what you are looking for at a reasonably good price, be happy! Some configs and colors can be hard to come by, unless you are willing to wait.

Ya i found a 16 2ss that retailed at 47k and they took 20% off the MSRP and have it down to 38k..Told them there are 17s out there that I can get for that price...He kept throwing at me..Well this car is almost 10k off and you won't find a better deal..Then I told him..Dude its a 2016..People are going to pass on this and just buy a 17..he basically told me to F off lol

Why would you make up that kind of story for negotiation? There isn't any '17 2SS available for 20% off type price and that dealer knew it.

In my experience, every dealer is willing to negotiate with a serious buyer, how much low they go really depends who has the leverage in the situation.

Don't get too much swayed by the 30-35% off sales you read here in the forum because that is not a norm, you might loose on the leftover '16s.

Some may be 38k, but simple math will show you that it's not 20 percent..

First, none are 20% off type anyway. Second, most folks won't qualify for all those incentives.

First off, the tags can now be applied to any car within a given amount of time at the beginning of the month. So technically you can get a tag applied to a 2017. Now will the dealer do that if they have 16s on the lot? Probably not. No matter the 2016 or 2017, I was simply saying that you should not just accept that tag price. That tag can be applied to the invoice price just as easily as the sticker price. Any dealer that refuses to give you invoice, and tries to convince you that you are still getting a "great deal", is in essence selling you this car for sticker.

Granted you are not paying sticker, but you could be paying $3k-$4k less. So that being left on the table is just being given to an already rich dealer. No way would I let that happen.

20% tags are only for 2016 Camaro/Corvette models and not for 2017s as per Chevy's terms and conditions. You can read that on Chevy.com.

There are plenty of 2017 models that have the 20% off tag. Furthermore the dealer has unassigned tags they can apply to any car they choose,
