I don't have mine yet but I can tell they would be okay in the snow. Good tires are the best thing to have on them and it helps that most of them have a locking rear end. I drive a 2WD small truck that has very little weight over the rear tires and I've never gotten stuck in snow, you just have to drive very cautiously.

I'll be very happy if I never see another snowflake for the rest of my life. There's a reason why I moved away from that stuff ( Bur in all fairness wasn't the only reason)

If the Camaro is the only car you have, I guess you put on snow tires and drive it, but RWD sucks in mountainous snow country. You can't put enough tire on an 2WD car (RWD or FWD) in a lot of places around Colorado. If you don't *have* to get to work every day you can deal with it I guess, or if you live where there is mass transit you can take when it snows, but if you live in the mountains (not along the Front Range, but in the foothills or higher), you see a lot of stuck 2WD cars. It has gotten so bad on I-70 that if you get stuck and impede traffic, it is an automatic ticket/fine.
On top of that, Colorado uses Mag Chloride like it is water, and they have even started putting down "brine", AKA saltwater. 25 years ago you never saw a rusty car in CO because they just used sand, which works great, but the dust left behind forced them to switch to chemicals, which kill not only the body, but the rubber parts and even the brake pads, too. Suspension bolts don't rust, the nuts actually fuse to the bolts. They look perfectly fine, but you have to break them and replace them because you simply can't get the nut off. Snow season is late-October to mid-May, so by the end of the season a lot of people have driven 100 days in snow. 2WD simply isn't worth the headache, which is why I can't recall the last time I saw a Camaro/Mustang/Challenger or the like driving in snow here. People who drive sports cars put them away for the winter, not only because it sucks to drive 2WD in the snow, but because the damage simply isn't worth it. BTW, the person who pointed to all of the BMWs and MB's as proof that RWD cars are fine in the snow, take a closer look. Almost every BMW and MB model has an AWD option now. In fact, just about every manufacturer *except* GM has AWD cars now, not SUVs, but cars. |

I just put Pirelli Sottozero Serie III's on my 2SS, stock size (245x40x20 front, 275x35x20 rear). Only experienced cold weather and a dusting so far, so haven't really been able to put them to the test. They were expensive as hell, but the only option for legit snows in the stock tire size.
I originally wanted to get a separate set of smaller wheels/snow tires, but turned out the 18's I ordered rubbed on my front brakes. I don't have the upgraded brakes, so I was kind of perplexed by this. Everything I read prior led me to believe they would fit. Wondering if anyone else has experience with this? |

I had some 18" on mine for fit, they cleared the brakes (2ss) but looked stupid, and the lugs were too small for the wells.
![]() I am putting the Blizzak lm-32 on today (Handle a lot better than sotto's IMO). I had to drop to a 255 in the rear, but the front is exact fitment. It should be ok, I dont mind a little skinnier rear end - better for snow and more fun in the dry. Tire rack shows the 255 as 8.5-10" for tire width range, so thats good. I think there will be a 1-2/10th's height difference in the back too, but thats not far off from a tire wear height change and the system should be able to compensate. http://www.tirerack.com/tires/tires....=Blizzak+LM-32 FWIW, I've tried many of the performance winter tires. My favorite previous was the dunlop m2, then they ruined it wit the M3, then I tried sottos but didnt like the sidewall flex, then tried lm-32 last season. They are better than the m2 in cornering and feel, and better in snow as well. I'm all about performance in winter because 90% of the time, there is no snow on the roads here (upstate NY). |

18s fit fine. I have the stock LT rims on mine. Looks fine and I picked them up for $400.
