Imperfections with recent PPF install
Quick update with my tint and PPF install. I was on my way to the shop to drop my car off this past week to have the window tint and PPF installed when the owner called me and offered to send his guys to my house to do it instead. I was somewhat worried about them doing it at my house as it's less sterile and was quite windy outside and I was worried that debris would get blown around and trapped under the film. Well...the window tint came out perfect; couldn't be happier but as for the PFF, that's somewhat of another story. The hood and CF insert look really good but the side mirrors and front are less than desirable. I can see several areas that have dirt and/or sand under the film as well as two spots where there appears to be some type of lint trapped under the film. There was also an area under the lip of the front fender that has a good amount of water trapped under the film which spans about 6 inches in length. There are also numerous water spots (bubbles) that will more than likely evaporate but I wanted to get your guys opinions on whether I should ask them to redo the film on these areas or if this is within reason. Again, I originally wanted to take my car to their shop as they have an indoor sterile bay to work in opposed to having the work done at my house but they insisted it would be fine. These guys have rave reviews on Yelp, Google, etc. and are highly rated in my area so I want to give them the benefit of the doubt. I'm attaching some photos for reference so that it gives an idea of what I'm talking about. So again, am I being picky or is this unacceptable work? I have had PPF installed on previous vehicles that were white and never noticed issues like these. I know darker colors can bring out the smallest of imperfections but for $1,200 I personally expect better. I appreciate the feedback!

How long after install did you take these pictures? When I had my car done it took several days for the pockets, bubbles, and smudges to go away. The parts that are not adhering to the body, I took back to the installer and they fix them.

It has only been a few days. I let the car sit out in the sun for the past couple of days but it's been cool and cloudy out (go figure). I know it'll take several days for the water spots to evaporate but I'm more concerned with those thumb sized areas that have some type of thread or lint under the film. It's kind of an eye sore and can be felt when rubbing your finger over it.

First off what kind of ppf? I would definitely have it redone. Unacceptable.

Unacceptable. My installer says he will take a lot longer than 2 days. Looks like a wack quick job. I would not accept this level of workmanship
Give him a chance to make it right and if he doesn't ask for your money back and get it done elsewhere. If you end up going somewhere else get some references / feedback first This is almost an art. It's probably not the fault of the product it's the person doing the work. .2c

Okay, so I'm not being picky, then. My last two PPF installations have been damn near perfect on my other cars.
The film brand is Llumar; same as the window tint.

It's all about the installer. The edges, debris and smudes are issues. Water should evaporate. You aren't being picky IMO. I would ask for them to make it right, were I in your position. I would also make sure they do it in the shop. I am super happy with the work I had done on my car. Hope you get it worked out to your satisfaction.

Total redo. The fingerprints will not go away and the crease will not go away. I would take it to their shop and have the owner look at it. Bubbles as many as there are is a failure by the installer. When I had mine done on my 5G ZL1 the installer wore gloves to prevent any finger prints and it took the every bit of all day inside. How long did it take this guy and was he wearing gloves? Perfection takes time and patience.

Yeah, I agree. It sat in the sun all day today and looks better but those smudge and/or finger prints, lint and film not adhering is a deal breaker. I can tell at this point it's going to have to be done over again. What a pain in the ass.
