Differences between 1SS and 2SS sound system

Anyone have experience with the difference in sound quality between both trim levels? Sold my 2SS and was going to buy a stingray but now have a shot at a 1LE and I'm thinking about making the move as I miss the camaro big time. Disclaimer before I get flamed, I know I'm not buying it for the stereo, and most bose systems suck anyway, just curious if I would be disappointed in any way moving back to a 1SS.

The only difference is the lack of Bose. I'm not sure why but 1SS is the ONLY trim level that Bose isn't at least an option. Makes no sense to me.

I can't comment on the sounds quality of one without Bose as I haven't really sat down and listened to one. I would not let it stop me from getting a 1LE though.

Personally I think the 2SS stereo is kinda sucky, the 1SS stereo I heard was just a little more sucky lol...

I don't know how often I will even have the stereo on, maybe just on highway trips. My other car has a pretty nice aftermarket stereo set up, so I can be fussy though.

Either way, the performance of the SS 1LE is so much better than your 2SS was, go for it! If you need to change out some speakers or add a sub just do that.

I have a friend that has a 1SS and I have a 2SS and the difference is night and day. No other way to explain it. Hearing his 1SS system after mine, it's like something you'd find in a Cruze. It definitely gets the job done, but if you're someone that enjoys music and enjoys cranking it up loud, get the 2SS Bose.

You mentioned a C7, and I will say that the Bose in my 2SS can't hold a candle to the Bose in my C7. The C7 Bose is NUTS!

Yeah C7 Bose is great. Outside of the Bose Panaray system in the Cadillac CT6, it might be the best sound system GM has right now.

Another subtle difference, not acoustical, on a 1LT if you are thinking a V6 1LE, is that the MyLink touch screen display is a 7" diagonal in the 1LT but 8" in the 1SS and 2SS (which fills up the infotainment dash bezel more completely - just my assessment).

This is not correct. All 1SS/2SS get the 8".

Yeah, I'm not impressed with the 1SS sound system.

Had the Sony system in my last car and it was MUCH better.

Then again, the LT1 sounds *%*$*! awesome.

This is the only thing that REALLY bugs me about the 1SS vs. the 2SS. I had the Boston Premium stuff in my 2012 2SS and some have said they think it was even better than the bose in the new 2SS so I'm sure I will be very disappointed in the 1SS stereo system :(

But that can be improved with some aftermarket speakers!

Haha, I'm sure you're like me Matt where I didn't even have the stereo on for the first week! Just cranked the "Engine Sound Management" to 11 and put the windows down.

I will say the 1LE's speakers are lackluster at best. I think the first step is some sound deadening in the doors and rear trunk area. Once the cabin is a little more sealed, it'll be time to start playing with sound. I'd recommend SoundSkins, I had them in my Golf R and they're light and incredibly useful.

Agreed. I corrected my post as it only relates to 1LT's.

I would rather spend the $1000 on some nice speakers and an amp

When I test drove the 1ss the other day I was not impressed with its' sound system at all. My truck (2016 Sierra w/ BOSE) blows it away in that department. That is OK, nothing that a drop in sub cant fix.
