Intake valve build up

I installed our ported intake manifold this evening and took a pic of one of the intake valves. My car has about 15.5K miles. The Mishimoto catch can has been on for about 14K of that.

That looks much better than I thought it would at 15,500 miles...now is it just how these engines are, or did the Mishimoto catch can help this a lot?

Either way, I have one ready to go on...if only my car gets here lol.

I would say not bad. Some Seafoam every 10K miles or so should keep things in decent shape.

The catch can definitely helps. I empty it every 2500 miles or so and it is definitely accumulating oil that would otherwise end up on the valves.

Don't think I could bring myself to do this...if yours look that good after nearly 16k, I am not too worried. Especially with a catch can.

Meh.

Just shoot some brake clean down there to knock the loose stuff off. Good to go.

If you put seafoam in the gas, how the hell does that help the valves?

Because the fuel is no longer washing over the back of the valve, Correct?

when I take off my intake again, I'll do the tooth brush and carb cleaner with valve closed...

You feed into into the intake. I've not done this with the Camaro but have on my 5.3 Suburban. You feed in till almost stalls, let sit for 30 minutes, start up and drive until smoke stops pouring out of exhaust. Not a pretty sight...

OK gotcha… I have a lot of people tell me that putting it in the gas will do it, and I knew that wasn't right…
