Can you explain in more detail the correlation between run flat tires and the lack of control? I'm curious now.

I would assume they talking about the SS run flats that are summer only tires that struggle with grip on the rain and or cold. But this is an LT so I don't think they have them either way.

That's why I said in MY opinion. For ME no point in owning these uncomfortable, loud, impratical cars without the fun of 455hp/tq.

I read that...just don't know if I agree with you!

As in - I get what you're saying.......

...but I also appreciate how much more nuclear these cars are, today...Even some of the racing series, like LeMans employ the use of traction control systems to contain it all!

...and as much as I like a good burnout, I don't like paying for it.

All good!!

I've always wondered how to brake properly in place of ABS?

I also learned never to turn off the stability control on public roads... with my C6 Vette.
Truly realized how much the 'computer nannies' are making my driving appear to be better than it is.
Glad no one was hurt though.
Hope you fix her like new again!

Eh, that's way too broad a generalization. I'm sure there are people who still get plenty of enjoyment out of their car without the risk of losing control going sideways.

I had a little fun with them off in a straight line. Night and day difference on what the car does with the power, it was an eye opener for sure.

Nannies on until I learn how to control this Beast properly.

Upgrade your bumper is my suggestion.
For me at least...the more I learn to control the car the more I have respect for what the computers do.
My car is always in track, I'll put it in competition just so I don't bog on the one two shift on rare occasions, but I honestly love the "nannies" and won't take them off on the street.

I turn Traction Control off all the time... (I don't like the nanny cutting the engine when having a little wheel spin fun) but I leave the Stability Track on ... when getting some wheel spin you feel the back end wander but it is hard to tell if I'm saving it or the Nanny...

I think the Stability icon blinks when it does something as I saw it blink once when back end was heading in one direction... and here I thought I saved it.

Honestly, leave the nannies on when driving on public roads. If not for yourself and your vehicle then for the other people that you share the road with. Luckily OP only had a minor incident to his own vehicle and it sounds like the lesson was well learned.

If you want to learn to drive with the nannies off go to a driving school where they will teach you properly under controlled conditions, or start with some grassroots motorsports like SCCA/NASA Autocross and a club that has good novice instruction. Think of it as martial arts instruction for your car, not only will they teach you how to do these things they will also impart the wisdom of when and where it is ok to do them. (at least the good schools will) Hint, it's not on public roads.

Nannies are great but you really should be aware of what it feels like for it to break loose and know when to remove your foot off of the pedal.
