Don't forget that the car isn't even broken in yet. Higher friction on every part in the drivetrain! Higher friction equals more heat as well, on top of the fact there was no fan or other method of cooling provided. It's also possible that GM limits torque output until the car reaches a certain mileage, because torque will break more than engine parts, especially ones that haven't been broken in. Maybe that would explain why the torque numbers are way lower than the Z06 dyno runs. I can see one dyno reading 30 less hp than another, even on the same car with the same conditions, but not 100 lb/ft and only 30 hp. Maybe the guy on the dyno didn't floor it right off the bat like usual and eased into, I don't know.

I hope it's just a badly done dyno. I mean with these numbers an A10 could be low 500's hp high 400tq? A zl1 with 520whp/495tq makes me cringe. This car was supposed to dominate now it seems like it's barely on par with the hellcat/gt500, which have been around for awhile and the zl1 is a ghost(doesn't exist) in Canada.

If it's only 520 whp it isn't on par with the Hellcat nor 13/14 GT500. The Hellcat typically put down north of 620+whp, 590-600tq.

Guys don't get too hung up on dyno figures..they can be all over the place.

Example: Some SS's are dynoing at 390 WHP and others at 425 WHP..

Is there really a 35HP range? No..the variations on dyno to dyno are to blame.

Yep the real test will be to take a ZL1 (broken in 1500+ miles on the clock) and a Hellcat to the same Dyno on the same day!

You mean taking them both to the same dragstrip to race one another. Hellcat will beat the ZL1 everytime on the dyno, but it should be a close race at the strip.

0 - 60 in first gear for the manual. Not sure the A10 has an advantage.

He's talking about comparing numbers on the same dyno same day.

The A10 is still faster.

That too of course, but I think the dyno results will be much better for a ZL1 that has been properly broken in.

Manual, 3.7 sec

Auto, 3.5 sec

On topic, the ZL1 has much better tires out back than the Hellcat...I think, even if you see a few hero times where the hellcats are faster, the times will be inconsistent, some fast, some slow....ZL1 should be able to hook up off the line much easier, and more consistently.

Yeah. That'd be a better comparison of what the difference is between the two for sure. The cat will put down more hp with both being stock, but peak torque output should be about the same. Also if the numbers seem low for the hellcat, then everyone can figure what the ZL1 would do on a different dyno or better conditions with temp, air, etc.

I agree. Also, we have learned that the ZL1 has more options for launching the car in different conditions. The custom launch control allows the selection of different RPM and amount of wheel slip allowed. Even if launch control doesn't yield the best time possible, it would allow for a more consistently fast time once you figure out what settings are working the best on that day and track.

Isn't the tire size the same as the 5th Gen ZL1? The majority of drivers could only run low to mid 12s with terrible 60' times. Now you have more hp/tq to try and harness. You have to be very skilled to launch any of these cars with this much hp/tq on street rubber really regardless of width. Maybe the nannies are better on the 6th Gen? To take advantage of any of these monsters you are going to need DRs or a perfect driver and track prep.

Similar to the Hellcat expect the majority of passes to be in the 11:70-12:00 range.
