Aftermarket Amp with Stock Bose System

Is there any way to use an aftermarket amp with the stock Bose speaker system?

There is a way but I do not think there is a purpose to do it. If you're going to go through the work to add an alternative amp best to put better speakers in. Bose speakers really only designed for the amp they build for them. Putting more power to them are just going to max them out.

This will work, with the factory system; but it's designed for use when adding speakers and an amp to the factory system.

I am using the LC7i and it works well. I have two amps added though. 1 400/x4 and a 600/x1. Right now I am running the factory bose speakers but going to change the out because yes the amp maxed them out even with the gain turned way down. the 600x1 is running a jlw6 and it sounds amazing. if you are going to run a sub run them off the door speaker signal and not the rear deck signal. the rear deck speakers are for added bass and dont get the full range.

Remove the factory amp and connect this instead. You can decide what signals come in and send those out to aftermarket amps -- without sacrificing or tapping your rear speakers for line-level inputs.

That's what owners do in other countries when they have a MOST bus.

Is the MOST bus protocol compatible? How should the connections be made? Are all functions (handsfree calls, turnsignal clicks, rear sensors) incorporated?

Getting rid of the Stock Bose Amp could proove too complex without a deep knowlwgde of the entire system.

The other way to connect an aftermarket amp, would be using a speaker level signal integration such as the JL Audio Fix-86 and from there to a new amp that is 2 ohm stable, so you can use the stock speakers. But it does sound pointless because the speakers (specialy the door subwoofers) are a the weak point in the system.

The MOST bus is a standards based protocol bus system for 12v audio applications. Remember the Toshiba TOSlink optical connector? MOST works on the same principle but it not a single company standard. Anything running MOST uses the same connectors. Some of the MOST DSP makers have automaker specific models because it knows what is on each channel already. Replacing the stock amp with a MOST DSP has a lot of benefits.

- These DSP's allow you to use your phone or PC to customize
- There are a lot of channels in the MOST bus, DSP allows you to ignore or preference the channels to which outputs you want
- The DSP with the most outputs allow for better spatial configuration
- Doing all the work in the DSP allows you to leave your amps at default
- Their are compact motorcycle/marine amps now available that would allow you to squeeze all this under the trunk floor without having to show off anything

If I can get one of these DSP's imported for less than what the crazies on eBay want for them, I'm probably going this exact route. And instead of subs in the trunk, I'm likely to switch out the cabin speakers for better drivers with a good SPL rating.

At my age I'm looking for clarity at any volume with some elevated bass response.

Let us know when you find a MOST DSP that will work with the 2016 Bose system
