Hey, don't get me wrong, I have done it in the past, but don't do it expecting to keep your full powertrain warranty in tact. Doesn't matter how good your relationship is with your dealer, as a major engine issue would have to be approved by the regional folks anyway...just saying.
This go the same for the "resonator" delete mod people are doing?

Nobody is going to be able to give you a firm answer yes or no. It comes down to the service dept you are dealing with. Even my own advisor here at work couldn't guarantee anything but he said even with all my mods, If I bust an axle or something I should be fine.

I want to squeeze as much N/A horse power out of the 1LE's power plant. I have read in a few places that any thing you do to the power train will void the warranty. I planned on these few upgrades:

Cold Air Intake
Long Tube Headers
Performance Exhaust
Professional Tune
Camshaft

Not necessarily in that order. So my question is, does anyone have any hard proof of the warranty policy? Once again, please be gentle.
Gen5er,

I must ask, have you decided what brand of CAI is best for you? I would be glad to help if you have any questions or concerns.

SS1LE is spot on, there is no way they are going to fix power-train issues with mods....GM refused to even LOOK AT my tranny that was grinding 1-2 because it had been tracked.....They filed my car as "ABUSED" and that was the last time anything on the car was addressed. Maybe you get a cool dealer/maybe not, BUT if GM gets involved it ain't getting fixed. Look at the warranty forum here already, they won't even address cars that are missing paint and you think they are going to warranty a modded car LOL LOL LOL LOL

My friend who has a 16 SS has long tube headers, his axle broke and GM came out and blamed the headers. He had to pay out of pocket I'd be careful.

If you cant afford to pay out pocket, dont mod. It is that simple. Maybe you get lucky, maybe you dont. Bottom line, you gotta be ready to pay to fix or let it sit.

This.

...and this goes for any car, not just Camaros.

Coming from a mk7 Golf R with FBO and a tune, I can attest to this. Luckily, I never had a severe issue but several other cohorts did. Several stories of $6k motors later I took my reprieve and decided to find a capable car I don't need to mod.

Almost exactly the reason I wound up here. Had a fully bolted/tuned Focus ST. Had two friends lose motors (ringlands) and be denied warranty claims because they were tuned.

It was time to find a car that had all the track goodies I would need and covered by full warranty.

Yup.

LT's=More power=more stress on the half-shafts=no warranty coverage for damages.

Someone correct me if I am wrong, but I thought, at least for the 1LE models, that GM was going to still warranty cars that had been tracked?

BTW, if you go read the Boss 302 forums, Ford covered everything including complete transmission and engine replacements for people who tracked their cars, but only if there were no mods to the engine.

gm has said they will cover cars that have been tracked as long as they are stock. these things were built to be raced.

as far as mods. E85 and a tune is the best bang for the buck mod there is if you have e85 available.
