I'd second the recommendation for a closed face helmet, SA2015, if you want to do all that you said. Road racing requires closed face helmet, although I don't know if the 2.0t is up to the task of road racing (cooling wise) without significant upgrades. Some HPDEs also require closed face helmets, but it depends on the track. Visibility will be mildly limited with a closed face helmet.

SA2010 helmets are only good for another 5 years with SCCA autocross, so that is why I would go for the 2015 rating. Some people say that their helmets get nasty from sweat in 5 years, so they would replace anyways. But if you wear a head sock or don't sweat much, it could last 10 years. Here is the one I currently have http://shop.racequip.com/c/sa2015-sf...ce-gloss-steel, but I would highly recommend trying on a helmet prior to buying. $219. The thought of "How much is my brain worth" needs to be balanced with "Am I going to stick with this?"

Most autocross clubs have free loaners as well, so keep that in mind.

Depends on the organization and possibly on the activity. SCCA's 2016 Solo (autocross) rules allow the current plus the two immediately preceding helmet specs. Other groups/tracks/activities may be more strict and limit you to current plus the one immediately previous spec.

I highly recommend getting a full-face helmet for reasons previously listed. Even if you aren't currently thinking in terms of HPDE/track days, it'd be a shame to limit yourself now and find out later that this was what you did to yourself.

And I think particularly for autocross, helmets with larger eyeports are better suited than those with smaller eyeports.

If you wear glasses or frequently need to wear sunglasses when driving, keep that in mind.

Also like previously mentioned it will land in D street. You'll see Mark Scroggs out there in his, if you run into him make sure to pick his brain.
Thanks Ian, hello everyone

As mentioned, in stock form the SCCA just classed the 2.0T Camaro in D-Street effective 1-1-17. I will be starting a thread shortly to document the development of my car, hopefully more 2.0T owners will come out and autocross this great car

On a side note I've been looking into helmets for the fiance and myself, there's alot of options out there... Would appreciate any advice in selecting one keeping in mind: we'd like to autocross, road race and drag race, we're beginners so we don't need anything extreme and I'd like to keep price around $500-700 a piece... Was looking at this guy: Carbon Devil ray, about $600

That's the helmet I have. Mine is the 2015 version.

The nice thing about the Simpson is that it will be allowed in almost every form of racing you can find without having to worry about if your helmet is allowed or not.

Hah I knew there was a reason I like you on here!

Bought the 2.0 with the HD brake and cooling package knowing that it would see some track time
My thoughts exactly (I like my brain and don't mind spending an extra $100 for a quality piece; also plan on getting on track as much as budget and time allow)

Thanks for the advice, I do have light sensitive eyes so glasses or a tinted visor is a must... So far the helmets (fully faced) I've been looking at all have large eye openings; no need to make visibility worse in this car lol...
I'm going to try and find a spot up here me and the fiance can try on helmets; we have vastly different head shapes (blockhead checking in) so I think it's in our best interest... To any Canadian fellows reading: I'd be open to susgestions on where to go for this...
