good luck on your search for the perfect Camaro. I bought mine based on cost, fuel econ and DD. I also track/auto-x mine, awesome out of the box, for power, handling and reliability. recently I took a trip from Houston to Arkansas, a 470 mile trip. I got there in one tank average about 70-75 mph. With gas to spare when I arrived. in the city going back and forth to work I average around 25-26mpg. heavy Houston traffic. I hope this helps.

Gentleman,
I assume all Gentleman , anyway...Appreciate the input. Didn't accomplish much with my test drive today. The NPP 6 cyl was gone. But did drive a std exhaust six, an auto. Power was fine, certainly all a guy needs. Handling is impressive. Did surely ascertain that I DO want a car without sun roof. Lots of headroom and I like the NO SR look to the roof as well. So back to searching for a 6 cyl, NPP car to drive or at least HEAR. |

Thoughts
I have a pretty base car - 3 options:
A8, Bose, 6Cyl. I really love the car, though I probably would have enjoyed having the NPP. I can drive the car like a crazy man, and commute every day in semi-stop-and-go traffic in the Dallas area, and I never get below about 19.5 mpg. On highway trips (I've done 2 that were exclusively highway) I easily got low to mid 30 mpg if I wasn't driving crazy fast or passing every car that annoyed me in the far left lane. I looked at a 1SS, but the monthly budget, the gas budget (premium fuel), and insurance sealed the deal for me. I don't feel like I settled, and agree with what someone else said, that the car has more than enough power to best most cars on the road. The friends that have driven it all were very impressed with how nice it was for a base car, how fast it felt, and how nice it sounded, even without the 2 stage exhaust. Good luck finding the car for you and with your decision. Looking forward to seeing what you get! |

I have RS, A8, NPP and no moon roof. I specifically did not want a moon roof, I'll never use it and IMO you lose the cool roof line design with it. It is my daily driver, my commute to work is 3.5 miles one way. Absolutely love this V6 and the exhaust note. The A8 is great, no complaints there.
Overall a very easy car to live with on a daily basis. The SS was out of my price range and for what I was looking was just overkill for my current needs. Plus I like the look of the front end on the LT RS models over the SS front end. My previous daily driver was a 4th Gen T-top Z28 6 speed which I still have. |

I had t-tops in my 3rd gen. I had them in my 4th gen. You know what I dont miss in my 6th gen. useless damn t-tops that you never feel like taking the time to remove and put on. So they stay on all the time and just end up being a source of noise and water leakage.
No. It's part of the spirit of the car but it's a bad feature. If you're gonna bring something iconic about the 4th gen back, i'd vote for a hatch-back over the waste of effort that is t-tops. |

synaptik - I'm in Lewisville - you further North? I have Hyper Blue, but your car is equipped the way I'd have done it if I wasn't already pushing the budget. I traded a 1.5 year old Accord for the Camaro, and the wife let me do it for Father's Day, but some limits were agreed on as part of the change. I have changed some bulbs to LED, changed to better (and slightly cooler) halogen headlights, and I've changed to RS taillights, but no other changes to mine. Only other thing I'll probably do is get Black bowties. A friend of mine has the material to cover the side markers with black reflective vinyl - it looks really really nice. I may do that and quit.

I'm pricing out a bare bones 1SS, NPP, dark wheels and that's it. Going to compare it to the 2 LT with the 6, A8, NPP and RS package. If the price difference is something I can rationalize I may go for the SS. Driving a 6 cyl NPP car on Friday...To see if it sounds as good as I hope it will. Probably going to pull the trigger on whatever I'm going to get this Saturday. Early next week at the latest. BTW.... Hyper Blue...Does it stay pretty clean or show dirt easily like a dark color? I'm stuck between the Hyper Blue or Silver or White . |

Good luck on your search. I really love my V6 M6. I'm still in the break in period, so my mpg is not reliable yet. But one thing you mentioned that would be important to you is tire life. The RS package comes with Goodyear F1 all season runflat tires that have a treadwear rating of 500 (if I'm not mistaken). That said, I'm not fond of them - too loud and too harsh. I personally am looking forward to replacing them with non-runflats.

Try to do it with your window down while you're passing a long line of cars that are sitting in a left turn lane, lol. Its my favorite thing to do and makes me stupidly happy
