Sub install on bose system

Yes I read all the other threads on this already ... I see all the problems that everyone else is having so I know I won't attempt this myself even though it just seems so simple.
splice the rear deck speakers for input, get power from battery in trunk and voila have a working setup ... way oversimplified and I know the quality of stealing the rear speakers for an input would not be the best

So I called Cartoys, who did the install on my '15 1lt with the base mylink system in it. They quoted me $400 for a line level output device and installation ... does this even sound right to anyone? seems a bit high for me when their normal mono-channel amp install is like $100 ....

A decent 2 channel line output converter is about $50, and you probably need one rated for higher power, like in the 25 W rms range.
$400 sounds ridiculous to me, but I'm a DIY'er all the way.

I did a 5 channel amp install with a sub for my 2SS and the install was like 200, but they charged a little more because it was the first 16 they worked on the bose amp was more difficult to bypass.
