GM 100 Octane Tune for Z06, Possible for ZL1?
http://www.corvetteforum.com/forums/...e-gm-tune.html
According to this thread on Corvette forum, GM is going to b offering a 100 Octane tune for the Z06 Corvette. Since the engines in the Z06 and ZL1 are similar I wonder if they will do the same for the ZL1? On a side note, Callaway is supposed to be offering a package for the ZL1 that brings the HP to over 750hp. It's not cheap but Callaway makes good stuff.

Interesting... it does seem like GM Performance Parts is upping their game right now.
This tune may be part of it. |

Hopefully, Ford has been offering upgrade packages for the Mistang for a while now.

I watch that guys videos all the time. I agree with everything he said, but he did leave out one tiny fact....Warranty! People choose callaway because they supplement the factory warranty and Hennessy because they offer their own. Aside from paying for the name, a portion of that price is the security.

The 100 octane tune is only available for 15-16 ZO6's and doesn't include MY 17.

Callaway and Hennesey should not be mentioned in the same sentence. Completely different.
Callaway is expensive for sure. A lot of engineering goes into their products that you wouldn't get by just taking it to a tuner. If that is worth the extra cost is a valid question and everyone has to decide for themselves. Your local tuner can certainly achieve similar results depending on what metric you are looking at. Certainly for power or straight line speed its easy enough to do. Similar issue to a ZL1 vs a supercharged SS. You can slap a supercharger on an SS and smoke a ZL1, but you may sacrifice NVH, efficiency, driveability, etc. as well as missing out on the handling , durability, etc. that is engineered into the ZL1 from the factory. One of the good things about Callaway is there is value associated with the name because they do quality work. You pay more up front, but there is typically going to be more residual value on the back end as well.

![]() While I've had 4 Callaway vehicles over the years, all had a common theme - they were powerful, reliable, and drivable. They were emissions compliant, and carried a real warranty which supplemented the GM coverage which was un-blocked. Nobody else offered, or offers the same. I paid for the reputation of an engineering company, which at the time of the last one we bought, had 35 years of history under their belt. I never had an issue with he car, and it delivered. Now, can a "tuner" make more power? Sure. Power is the easy number. But how long will it last? Spinning a supercharger faster, past it's point of efficiency? No thanks. Better intercooling? Makes it work over time, much better, and when combined with the larger supercharger, well, it's a proven package. I have my eyes on a ZL1, and would add the package in a heartbeat. What I would not do i what was done on the yellow vette. Extrapolated figures using a chassis dyno, no thanks. I'll stick with science and engineering. Now, back to topic: 100 octane tune. Pass. I would not want to pay all the time for 100 octane fuel. At least we have 93 on the east coast. |

You may wanna read about the tune, says 93 minimum and adjust for 100 octane. Right now the Z06 is 91 octane minimum and adjust for 93. Just a FYI
