MT owners...do any of you notice a 'lurch' with ARM on? Not sure if that's the right word, but it seems to happen when accelerating half throttle or more, then going for an up shift? I know I can just turn off ARM, but it sure does make the long commute easier Drove a gen5 MT for years, but this throttle lag makes manual matching difficult to me. I've even tried turning it on/off throughout the commute, but that gets annoying fast.

Not sure exactly what you mean, but with ARM off you don't notice it? ARM really shouldn't be effecting upshifts, just downshifts...you sure you just aren't feeling the throttle falling off when you let off to shift at higher rpms?

Well it falls off, but so abruptly that the car jerks. So I guess that's how I'll describe it, very abrupt fall off of the throttle. Its just hard to describe, but yeah it's ONLY with ARM on. Off is fine, so I know it's the ARM causing it

I kinda think I know what you are describing. I only notice it in 1st or 2nd though and as you said around half throttle. What really bugs me is the throttle lag. You can kick the pedal and it takes it about half a second or maybe even closer to a second to pick it up. I bet this is something that can be tuned out though. I'll mess around with it some more when I get off work. I thought about snagging up a throttle controller, but heard a lot of people saying they have been getting CEL's on it and ya i don't want that.

Edit- Also seems like right around 3grand is the smoothest shifts. It just loves being shifted right in there.

What mode are you driving in? When I drove my friends I thought track mode had too twitchy of a throttle, sport seemed much more progressive.

I notice it in all modes, although I don't use track very often as everything is a little too stiff for street driving. But to clanky's point, I notice it more on the lower gears...but that might just be because in those gears in using a lot more throttle. I tossed the throttle controller idea around too, but learned it doesn't actually FIX the lag it just improves the throttle signal

Humm, do you notice this "lag" at near or full WOT while shifting?

...and this doesn't happen with ARM off? That is what gets me...must be something in the ARM tune tables then.

The throttle controller helps a little. I know exactly the feeling you speak of. With the throttle controller set to 5, I don't have the issue with my car. 9 is a bit over sensitive. Then there are days where I just put it back to 0.

Well I notice the lag the most when starting from a dig or with quick takeoffs, between shifts (but that might be the tq management).

The lag is with or without ARM, but the throttle cutoff is only when ARM is enabled. I've been working on manual matching and am finding what the car needs, it would just be nice to have ARM do it sometimes after a long day. There's just too much computer interference for a manual tranny in my opinion.

This still makes me wonder. I mean, yeah, if it bothers you just don't turn ARM on, but sometimes it is nice to use.

Like I said, if it doesn't do it when ARM is off, it must be in the tune tables just for ARM. Which is odd, I wonder what "advantage" they think this could have?

If you have ARM on, and do a near WOT, or full on WOT shift, do you still notice it?

With ARM off its smooth as I remember my 5th gen being, no abrupt cutoff. It seems to happen more when you're only in a gear for a short time (so like accelerating to 45-50 you don't wind out to redline in town). I'd LOVE to tune this like my 5th gen was because I'm sure it'd 'fix' a lot of the annoyances, but we all know what that does to warranties.

I think maybe you should ask your dealer to drive another one and see if this is how it is with AFM on, or if your car has some sort of "issue" with ARM on. I just texted my buddy who has a M6 SS, (which I have driven, but not with ARM on) and asked him if he has noticed this with ARM on, and he told me "not that I recall"...

...maybe post this same question in the "Issues, Problems", etc section too as you may get more traffic there and more opinions if this is an issue with your car, or normal with ARM on.

I've noticed something similar.. with ARM on, shifting from 1st-2nd and 2nd-3rd and accelerating hard, it is kind of jerky. With ARM off, it is smooth. What I've noticed is that with ARM on, if I make these shifts and let the clutch out with no gas, it is a smooth shift. So clearly ARM is still working to match revs on upshifts, albeit it is a much slighter match than on a downshift. So..... idk. If I know I'm going to be accelerating hard thru the first 3 or so gears, I'll just turn ARM off. But yeah, I agree it is annoying to have to keep thinking about it, because I do use ARM most of the time -- I'll be the first to admit I'm not good at manual rev-matching -- haven't had enough practice. This is my 3rd manual car, and the first 2 it really wasn't even an option with the pedal placement.
