A few things I noticed after 5k miles...

So as the title says, I'm 5000 miles into my 2017 2Ss and loving it. I noticed a couple things the other day. First off my car feels more powerful... I'm not saying it is, but it sure feels like it, the throttle response seems a bit better and it just feels more aggressive. Second, my exhaust is definitely louder. Even my roommate asked me the other day if I had the axle back I've been wanting to get for a while because he heard me pulling into the neighborhood LOL. These things aren't as some people like to say 'edge of your seat' because it's a noticeable difference. To be clear these aren't bad things, it's just funny and I wanted to see if anyone else is experiencing anything like this with their car.

And just to reiterate, I am simply obsessed with the car. It's a bit ridiculous. 5k in and I have not one single complaint!

My 2SS really woke up right around 10-12K miles! I totally agree with your exhaust comment. Mine got louder, too.

After a car breaks in a little bit there is less resistance in side the motor and the mufflers usually get slightly louder as well. I'm not sure why on the muffler part but its happened to me on numerous cars.

A brand new engine is tight. It needs to wear in so that all the tolerances are where "they want to be". Most brand new engines will gain power and responsiveness up to about 7500 miles give or take depending on how you drive it. The exhaust is perfectly clean when brand new. As carbon builds up in the baffles it's ability to muffle the sound is reduced.

Yeah I figured that was the case with the engine, but I didn't realize it continues to loosen up till around 7-8k O.o haha that's pretty awesome. So much fun still to be had! The exhaust thing makes a lot of sense too.. It sounds MUCH more aggressive, and I honestly think I'm going to pass on the aftermarket exhaust now, the note at this point is perfect for me. Just going to put that money towards a procharger :P

Cooler weather in the fall also helps make more power

Funny you posted this. I'm only at around 1800 miles but when I drove it yesterday I swear the exhaust seemed louder.

There is no question...I love this Camaro. At Memphis drag strip a few weeks back, one of the guys in the staging lanes asked me if I was "spraying"...LOL. I said no, but not sure he believed me. I was running very low 12s, but just couldn't get into the 11s.

I now have 5600 miles on mine and the only thing that bothers me is that, a couple hundred miles ago, I began experiencing an aggravating rattle under the driver's side dash area. I hate rattles to start with, but this one is driving me crazy. I have an appointment with my dealership next week to have them fix it (good luck with that one). I hope they can fix it quickly.

Just over 2000 miles and there's a little more bite to the car. It's insanely fun now, can't wait to feel how it drives around that 10k mile mark.

Sorry to hear about that rattle dude. Hopefully dealer isn't a dud and helps you out! Would love to see if you can get into the 11's once you hit 10k miles :P

After a couple thousand I think I finally got the hang of smoothly shifting with the auto. My previous vehicle was a 5 speed and I still really miss having a clutch, but the 8 speed auto is definitely growing on me.

I chalked it up to the fact that most up the summer I kept the windows up and the A/C on and yesterday I had the windows down. It wasn't the first time but I figured I just wasn't used to the windows down sound.
