ZL1s hitting Texas Dealers!

Several Dealers in North Texas have ZL1s listed on their websites! Very exciting and I am noticing the prices are around base price. I was surprised that the dealer would build these cars without navigation at least. I checked and these are not sold orders. What would a sales manager's reasoning be for ordering this car without Navigation? Most people look to have that feature in a 60k car. Still not sure why it's not standard, like in the Chevy SS sedan. I think the only option is a moon roof.

I know most will say a cell phone or a Garmin are better, but to me nothing works as well as the factory unit that is beautifully integrated into the HUD.

I made a similar mistake when I bought my new Sierra without the factory installed trailer brake controller calling myself trying to save a few dollars. The aftermarket unit I have isn't nearly as good and doesn't support the functionality of the truck's stability control sway systems.

Is someone more likely to walk away from a car that has Navigation they didn't ask for, or walk away from a car that doesn't have it?

Seems like this car would be pretty fun to get "lost" in. I don't know, I've lived fifty years and have never used a nav system. I have always gotten where I need to go and back.

Because the nav apps you can download on your phone are light years ahead of the one GM put in my link?

Really? I can download navigation on my phone? Learn something new everyday. lol

In a car, the only real tech I'm concerned about is the tech under the hood.

No question navigation should be a standard feature on the top-of-the-line Camaro and at this price point. No reason to order it without it either. better to have it and not use it then want it and not have it. the factory could streamline by just putting it in every zl1 it would be cheaper for them to standardize. If it's retail $495 their cost is minimal.

Good luck using those nag apps when you get into areas where roads are crazy and there is NO cell service, like in Arkansas where I was a few weeks ago. Disk-based nav doesn't suffer but cell phone based nav won't work there as it can't load the maps from the Internet.

Know which dealers have unsold ones inbound?

I have the nav in my '14...its a pain in the butt to type in an address, where I can just grab my phone and text it in 4-5 seconds. ill never order the nav again cause I never use it.

When I built mine on the supplier site I purposely didn't select Nav. No need for it. Cell based GPS can be used when offline as well, just have to allow google maps to download the maps for offline use. I used my phone when I was wondering around yellowstone a few weeks ago with no cell service.

Actually, that's a misconception. Unless you try to start directions in a zone with no cell service, Apple, Waze, and Google maps are loaded onto the phone before you start your journey so that you can continue directions without cell service. During your trip, it relies on GPS. I have driven plenty of times between New Mexico, Arizona, and California and have never had issues with phone directions.
