Traction improvement

Wasn’t sure if I should post this in the suspension section or perhaps tires. Recently installed a magnuson sc and would like a little more traction when under aggressive acceleration. Between 20mph and 55mph the car, when aggressively accelerating, but not WOT, can lose traction if you’re not very careful. It’s not a huge issue, but I’d like to be able to use as much power as possible without spinning the tires.

Currently I have MRC with all stock suspension parts. The tires are BFG G-Force Comp 2 A/S, 245/40/R20 fronts and 285/35/R20 on the rear. Should I start with tires or suspension? Cornering hasn’t been an issue, even at the track (although I didn’t have the sc at the time) Recommendations for which suspension parts to add or tires? Launching isn’t as big of concern as aggressive acceleration when at speed. The car has a tendency to go sideways. Live in WA state so were definitely in the rainy season now but this happens when dry.

I would recommend to start by upgrading some of your suspension components. Most customers cannot believe the difference in how the car launches even on stock tires just with a few simple upgrades. Some of our tubular Trailing arms, control arms and toe links make a dramatic difference in how firmly the car plants. You will also notice that the sideways kick out you refer to is virtually eliminated even if you do break traction. Once you add tires to the combination, you will have a really solid setup that will handle a good amount of power easily

Can you tell us where you would start? What components and in what order would you add them?

I'd start with the cradle... they have braces, a lockout kit, which is an easier install then the bushings, or bushings if you have the means to install em.

After that I'd def get all the arms. I just installed mine this weekwnd and the difference over stock in stability is highly noticeable

In the next few I'll finish the toe arms and cradle.

Always start with tires when trying to 'add traction'.

For what you are describing, no All Season tire is going to give you the level of grip you are looking for.

Start shopping for a 200TW tire. Nitto, Bridgestone, BFG, Michelin, all have tires that will give you a huge bump.

I just put on nitto 555 g2 305s, awsome tire, very excited about it.
I'll end up doing some traction oriented suspension as soon as I fits in my budget.

Upper & lower trailing arms in the rear will make a very noticeable difference in your launches. Even at stock power, the wheel hop is very obvious. First time I started punching the car you could feel it. After swapping trailing arms, I'm good at stock power.

I will also say the cradle lockout is what I should've done instead of sway bars. Now that my wheels point in the same direction under full load, you can feel the deflection of the entire cradle causing a slight wag. The cradle lockout would stop that -- which means the car should definitely be point and shoot then.

TL;DR = Want to launch hard and fly straight? Get upper & lower trailing arms plus a cradle lockout from BMR.

The way I launch I don't get any wheel spin or hop, will I still benefit from these mods?
Can I install these myself or is this something a shop needs to do because of alignment?

I normally recommend people to start with these components. Those are the biggest parts that help with wheel hop and reducing excess movement.

What exactly is a cradle lock out? Just bushings and what not?
How long are the trailing arms?

Was this pretty easy to do? I hate taking things to a mechanic if I can do it myself.
