This really brings into focus how much faster the next Z/28 will be with those massive tires, aero and brakes

Sweet Video!!
New ZL1 10MPH faster at most braking points. Too bad no G-meter. New 10 speed Auto shifts with little or no delay.

Really brings to light just how magnificent the braking and handling of the Z/28 is.
Once the rain hit, it start losing time to the ZL1 immediately, and it got squirrely multiple times. So based on that, does anyone really doubt that the Z/28 would have finished, at worst, a 7:30 to 7:32 time if the track had stayed dry? I sure don't. That means, even if that rumored 7:32 for the GT350R is the real deal, the Z/28 was right there with it.

It will be interesting to see what the Z/28 can do with all that tire and aero on the alpha platform.

Yes, it sure does! I'm thinking the 5th gen Z/28 probably gave up 4-5 seconds with that rain. It should have run 7:32-7:33 if it was dry. If there is a 6th gen Z/28 with better brakes, more grip and 500ish HP it will be 3-5 seconds faster than this ZL1.

Though at this point I don't want to speculate on what the next Z/28 will pack as it really can pack anything. The last ZL1 Camaro coupe was 4,120 pounds and this new one is suppose to be about 3,920 pounds, the last Z/28 was roughly 300 pounds lighter then the old ZL1. Going based purely on that would suggest that the new Z/28 will weigh 3,520 pounds (though not likely IMHO), at that weight and with the improvements of the platform they could just make the same changes and be more then 5 seconds faster (even stick with the LS7). |

Just imagine if the 6th gen ZL1 was on R compounds like the Z/28's Trofeo's.
