Name....Doesn't really bother me. GT to me stands for Grand touring. If it bothers ya, maybe call it an "AFE momentum" or just afe intake.

Well even with the discount it over 400 witch is high compared to the others, all their intakes are over 400. So Imo afe is high on their products.

Ones like Roto-fab uses the hood as the lid to seal and looks like it belongs Imo.

My question would be is the housing textured or smooth?

Installed my AFE this morning, my impressions;
1. Outstanding packing, documentation and goodies ; license plate , stickers etc. compared to some other products I've bought that look like they were just thrown in the box, this was really laid out well
2. 25 min install, straightforward with everything fitting perfectly, every piece is quality fit.
3. No real increase in performance, slight increase in sound, but very slight
4. I like the look....

Awesome Glen, thanks for the review. Did you connect the intake resonator pipe, and do you have any feel for whether the increase in sound would be more apparent if not for your exhaust mods?

Also, any unexpected resonances, whistling, etc?

I connected the pipe, might try it without it...no whistling or other noises.

IMO, for a daily driver, any intake is for looks and you add it because you like to buy and install stuff on your car. I have had Afe, CAI,Inc. and takeda and never felt a bit of perf from any of them. The "intake wars" here recently are rediculous. The Afe is a solid, well built, nice bling add to the engine bay, I'm satisfied.

Understood on all fronts. Any thoughts on whether the AFE would be more audible if you still had the stock exhaust?

No thoughts......intake growls are different than exhaust growls… I've had both and you can tell a difference if they're there. It wouldn't matter whether I have the regular exhaust or the perf GM exhaust I have now.....

Like referenced, check out the prices on the 5th gen, not much different.

High on their products. Maybe, I mean they gotta back what they ell. the last Rotofab I had didn't have an air duct and plug. Also it didnt have as many attachments on the 5th gen. Once again you're getting more features than the previous gen for similar pricing . Loved my old rotofab more simplistic & basic but truly functional. Still 329. But I opted for he dry filter (20$) and then shipping (27). I've attached the screen caps of how I ordered my rotofab on my 5th gen.

On a 26,000$ car 400$ for an intake thats quality isn't much. In my.view. prices were similar on the lx platform too (charger/magnum/300). Remember you're buying the end product of not only parts, but testing, dyno time, 3d molding/cad design, quality control

Textured or smooth. The outside appears smooth, and I'm sure the inside def is. Turbulence isn't needed as direct injection engines don't require the fuel and air to mix prior to entering the combustion chamber.

Exactly the reason I bought the Vararam on my 2010 SS/RS. That intake was killer looking.

i agree. the only way i can see a cold air intake helping a n/a car is in autocross to help prolong heat soak. every dyno comparison i have ever seen has shown no results or loss in power.

As someone who goes to the track frequently, autox and HPDE events, and has done testing. I've seen where intakes can and do make a difference over stock. Changing mid range power gains can be beneficial in many areas. Even on daily drivers, airflow increases, or simply reduction in turbulence can improve MPG.

Anyone who knows just the basics with cars, if you increase its efficiency, you allow more power that would be lost in running the engine to now be used to go to the wheels.

We even just recently saw where Sledgehammer70 dynoed the k&n drop in filter and even that showed a power gain consistently. Any increase in airflow is a welcome gain on an N/a car. Be it from porting, less restrictive filter, or reduction in turbulence in the air flow.

After 100 miles on the intake, the car def has more bottom end & pull. Merging on the highway and point&shoot in traffic is better. And that's coming from stock, to the k&n drop in, and now the afe intake.

Floor it hard and triple digits approach way quicker.

City driving, less effort of the pedal to achieve the same.

Has a kinda more distinct sound but not much different, slightly louder. Still has the exotic metallic sound.

Also, in sport mode with traction control off, WAYYY easier to start spinning wheels.

If you are only buying an intake for sound, maybe wait for the offerings with an open filter instead of an enclosed box. But if you are someone that wants a bit more pep, throttle response, def a bit more pull. Go for it.

After a few hundred miles here, I concur about the lower end, it's subtle for me ,because I don't have much of an ability to pick these things out, but it does seem to be a little more grunt off the line…

And again, I really like the way it looks in the engine compartment, it's very high-quality to look at…
