so... lessons learned today are as follows?

1. the green drop in is better than the K&N..

2. make sure you look for all screws before pulling up..

Did i get these correct ?

One questions... does the engine sound different with the green drop-in filter ? and when I looked it up, they only had for V8's... so the V6 gets no love ?

Watching the video on the Green filter web site convinced me. Green Filter USA - Air Flow Simulator. Sorry tried to provide a link and couldn't.

yeah man....regarding the screws.

I don't know anything about the green filter. I don't think you will notice much sound difference, because if the way they sound proofed the cabin so well. I just did it to get rid of that crappy paper filter.

I've dyno tested a few drop in filters in my day. The best filter in terms of HP gain and it is really a minor gain...... wait for it.... wait for it.... wait for it...... brand new Fram. Why Fram? simple it is el cheapo filter it is very thin so there is less media to restrict air flow and the V in the pleats are deeper cause it is a cheapo thin filter. Works well enough on race day. Don't believe me eh? Just take out your GM filter go to autozone, bust out a new Fram, and come back and tell how much thinner the element is. Would I run a Fram on my ride for daily driving... heck no. Take it for what its worth, at a few points in my life I have had unlimited dyno access.

The rubber spill over is not a flaw it keeps the element in place to last the million miles, and yes it cuts down on flow area. I have not and don't know anybody that has used a green filter for years / decades. I can say all my rides going back to my 1969 Camaro Z/28 and my 1969 440 Dart all had K&N and that filter was on the car when I sold them, heck they still could be on today.

After trying to find someone in Canada that sells it, its not worth the extra costs for me to buy it even if it is slightly better flow. I still had to order the K&N, and that's only because I don't want to use the paper filter.

Not sure man.

You probably just want to check the autozone site for what fits your model year and trim.
