Adaptive valve needed?
![]() Has anyone gotten rid of these on the v6? Was there any issues? Getting my exhaust done Friday and the shop wants to know if I want to keep them or cut them out. What should I do? |

I have. The mrt axle back has you cut them off.
You don't need them but they will cause a significant change to sound and you will hear the difference from v4 and v6 mode. |

You can hose clamp them open to try it temporarily. Thatd what the Silverado guys do typically.

I don't know for surely is it NEEDED.... but I know MagnaFlow and borla stated the reason they kept it was not to deal with Check Engine Lights.
I have ZERO experience with these engine adaptive valves, so if I were worried about em, leave em in. they are new to me as well, and as someone stated, some people have done that mod that keeps em open on the truck forums. Borla stated at a later time, they may make pipes that have aftermarket valves in em for the full catback. other than that, both companies said, they may give off CELS's on some cars. you can call and check with em, and it would prob be good to check with cellsafemode, and maybe call MRT and see what info they have on em.

adaptive valves do not produce CEL's. all they do is have a mechanical spring mounted plate inside that resists the pulses of exhaust to even them out. This is especially useful for minimizing the difference between V4 and V6 mode.
There's nothing about them that would trigger a CEL. They're back near the muffler. There are no sensors, no electronics, nothing that would lead to an issue with O2 etc readings. Edit: on the V6 camaro. Most people who are having issues with aftermarket exhausts are playing with catbacks that may or may not be deleting the secondary cats at the same time. This can lead to issues where the primary cat doesn't heat up fast enough and potentially lead to CEL's. But if all you're doing is cutting off the adaptive valves. You will be fine. |

I think the cel's thrown had to do with o2 sensors not responding within some time limit expected by the ecu. Not 100% sure though. I can only speak to the adaptive valves for sure. |

like said, call MagnaFlow and borla and settle it out with their testings and finding ![]() that was their reason for not replacing the crimped section of pipe.

Maybe they believe you were talking about one of the computer controlled valves?
This one is just a weighted valve to tone down drone when in 4cyl mode. |

Doubt it. I made clear I don't have NPP, and my question was for why they didn't removed the crushed section of pipe.
Like said I don't have any experience with em. Just relaying what the companies said as their reasoning.
