Lived in Michigan my whole life and have only driven a fwd vehicle in the winter for 2 maybe 3 years at best. I prefer rwd in the winter even when both are equipped with winter tires. Odds are I will drive my Camaro for the first winter with a set of blizzaks on it, mainly because I am purchasing it to be my daily driver. I may eventually get another vehicle for winter duty but having multiple vehicles, and getting ready to add another, I don't really see the need of adding extra insurance on something I will only drive a few months out of the year. Plus I'm not into buying beaters for the winter anymore, wasted money (to me at least). People constantly over look winter tires thinking they can get away with just all seasons and that is the biggest mistake of most. Obviously you want to have a lighter throttle foot in the snow, but with the snow/ice drive mode this will help (in theory at least, I have no idea lol) immensely with the winter driving. Just my opinions tho, take with a grain of salt lol

Quick question, did you get winter tires and wheels? ...or just winter tires?

Get both. Easier to swap and won't wreck your good wheels.

There are several posts (including mine) on the quest to get a winter wheel and tire package. Tire Rack is recommending going with an 18" wheel/tire package and there are several forum members with pictures of their SS Camaros with 18" wheels/tires on them.
So the answer is, yes the 18" wheels will indeed fit and clear the Brembos. It is also the recommended wheel/tire package for winter driving as the ties aspect ratio results in a taller/thinner tire. I just bought a set of OEM 18" wheels and GM TPMS sensors off EBay. Next move is to hit a couple tires stores for some Blizzaks while they have a $70 rebate going (offer ends 10/31). All in I should be about $1350 for the entire package. |

I picked up a complete set of tires/wheels, it's a bit pricey out of the gate but pays off in the long run and you can swap them yourself.
There are many great SNOW tires, don't waste your time with All Seasons. I picked up a set of Michelin X-Ice tires and stock SS wheels. They are amazing in inclement weather. That being said, I have a Jeep for blizzards. |

Snow tires on snow wheels. Lower your tire pressure 7lbs, use Snow and Ice driving mode, take it slow, keep big distance between you and car in front of you. If you have a manual trans, use gears to slow down instead of your brakes
