AC regular vents and defrost vent issue

Anyone getting air coming through the defrost vents while having just the regular air conditioning on and set to push through the regular vents? I am getting this problem and its causing the front windshield to have condensation in the morning and at night. It is every annoying.

Does anyone know if this is working as intended? I have not had this problem with any other vehicle I have owned. I would expect that if I have the air conditioning set to push through the normal vents, that nothing would be coming out of the defrost vents.

Any input is appreciated.

Thanks,

I think there's usually some bleed to other vents. Get rid of the condensation by making sure you're not in "Recirculation" mode..

The word bleed is correct that is what is happening. I don't have the ac set to recirculation.

Not sure if it is normal but I have seen it happen as well when it is very humid out and I had the AC running. I think there is a Defrost/AC combo mode that I will try the next time I see it happen.

Good Morning Derol,

I apologize for any inconvenience the vents in your air conditioning may have caused. While a little vent leakage is a normal characteristic, I can understand your concern with the air coming through the defrost vents when on a different setting. I would be more than willing to facilitate a check at your dealer if that would be of interest to you. Please feel free to send us a private message with any further details or questions.

Regards,

Angela O.

my problem is I don't think the actual air conditioning is actually cold enough. When I have it down to 60 degrees, it doesn't feel that cold.

60 degrees is probably pushing the capabilities of an automotive AC system pretty hard.

I have to agree with Doug; I believe he means that the AC is not very cold regardless of what setting you use. For my own experience, the Cruze they loaned me while my cooling fan was repaired had much, much colder AC than my Camaro has. There's no way to compare our vehicles to each other but I definitely noticed it in mine.

Edit: Or, perhaps Chevy should add a 'Louisiana' setting to the AC

Yup. It's the first thing I've noticed about the car now that its getting warmer. GTO was much better and our '13 Flex is a lot better as well.

I'm having this same issue with my AC. It does not matter what temperature my car is set to or what speed the blower is set to. When I turn on my AC air mostly blows from the defrost rather than blowing from the AC vents. This does not seem normal.

Ordered some materials and working with a friend of mine who has a family ran precision tooling machining business. First prototype proved my theory that just a block off isn't going to work. Now working on something to redirect the really cold air hitting the lower part of the windshield at the apex. I ordered another part that should be in next week so we can precisely create our solution.
