Do you know your driving is being graded?

Onstar has something called OnStar Smart Driver which monitors your hard braking, driving over 80mph, late night driving, hard acceleration, average MPH & MPG, and distance driven (for a time span). My score is 82 so far.
If ever a legal case came up, or dealer issue, this could cause a problem. You should be aware! So if you log on to OnStar on your computer, you can check your grade. How are your doing????

You have to opt in to that program. It's not automatically enabled.

Also, it's mainly for insurance discount programs.

Anyone that opts in for this type program is asking for trouble. The more information you give someone the less rights you have.

It's also so they can sell your data to any corp. with cash in hand or provide it to whatever government agency deams it pertinent to public safety that they know when and where you drive.

If it saves you money on your insurance, cool. If you don't want to be a social and economic guinea pig without being compensated, there are threads on how to physically remove the onstar module.

I just checked the website...it seems you have to opt in before you get "graded"....I dont think this is a good idea for some camaro owners

my onstar has been physically incapable of phoning home anything since I bought my car in feb.

They dont need to know my driving habits. My insurance knows them since i've got no accidents or claims against me and no points on my license. That's all they need to care about.

Wow. I just checked and they had enrolled me. I just got my car last week. They never once asked if I wanted to be in that program. I just opted out. Thanks for the heads up OP.

Maybe if I was driving a Sonic or a Spark. In my Camaro, I don't want anyone or anything knowing how I drive(hubby included). All the things you said in the OP(hard acceleration, driving over 80mph), I do entirely too often, it's what this car was built for. It's what I was built for.

I don't remember opting in but I just got a grade of 10 which said is the 6th percentile. 94% are safer drivers than me.

99 incidence of hard acceleration, 32 incidence of hard braking and 2% of my miles over 80mph.

this just makes me want to see how low I can get it.
