Yes use NADA. And don't fotget, there is a separate section in the front of the NADA book regarding mileage. If you have low mileage it will definitely add to your value. While working the trade in value for my car during my Camero purchase, they were about $1900 off what I found online at NADA.The salesperson brought out the September NADA book and showed me the numbers. Yes about $1900 difference. I thought for a minute and said "wait". I remembered the section for mileage. Sure enough it added $1700 to my cars value. I told her to go back to her salesmanager and tell him he's not dealing with someone who was born yesterday. I got within what I was wanting to get for my trade.

Im not sure why everyone is saying to use NADA just because KBB inflates the value. He needs his value inflated - he is not trying to buy a car he is trying to get all he can from the insurance company. He wants as much of that dealer markup as he can get out of them.
Sure, when negotiating with the dealer to replace the car, use NADA and anything else that will play in favor of getting a lower price. But in this case a lower price / value is a bad thing. |
