Well now the fun begins, you get to fix it. It's just one of the valves rubbing on the inside of the pipe. If you don't have the tools, take it to a muffler shop. If you were closer, bring it over.

This is part of the valve rattle and squeak so often discussed.

Very familiar with it, the Dealer replaced my entire exhaust to correct the problem after trying to lube the NPP valves.

Hell I wouldn't take it to a "muffler" shop even after the warranty. It ain't a $90.00 muffler special. I seriously doubt a single 6th gen on American roads has yet to exceed its 36,000 mile warranty. |

There is a procedure to correct this problem by lubricating all 4 valves.... there is a detailed post on this site showing the procedure

When your car is under warranty documentation of every little thing is very important. |

Here's the fix, so damn easy... don't bother with the dealer visit, its a dry squeak, not a big deal. the valves aren't rubbing, its more than likely the inner springs.
http://www.camaro6.com/forums/attach...5&d=1459299075 for a squeak? did he lube it thru the holes or inside the pipe where the valves are? a replacement for that seems like too much unless the valves were sticking shut/open ; I doubt he lubed it right.

Which is why you should take it to the dealer. He got a new exhaust out of that. I fail to see the problem you make it out to be. When it's out of warranty do whatever you want. But even for the most seemingly simple and basic issues, while under warranty take it to the dealer. |

GM doesn't build Exhaust Systems, they buy and ASSEMBLE them. You need to complain about the supplier...

just a waste, but to each their own. The squeak will return, just a matter when. nothing stays lubed forever really

...So now if someone is advised to "lube their muffler bearings", it is to be taken seriously?
My, how things have changed....lol... |
