What is this hill assist on manuals?

I was reading the e-brochure when I came across this:
https://gyazo.com/033b2ed210d337754710db0daa3b50e3

Obviously, I intend to get a manual. I've read up on this a little bit on C6 but didn't get an answer. I have test driven 2 manuals and haven't noticed anything, but I also did not stop on any hills.
Does this affect the vehicle in the sense that I would have to change my timing with the clutch or anything like that?

Basically the car has a sensor rated for a cettain grade %. one it detects the car is on that %, it engages the ebrake to prevent rollback, and doesn't release until forward movement is detected. It can be intrusive depending on driving style, I've had no issues.

I find it a bit intrusive to be honest. I don't stop on a lot of hills but when I do, I'm used to taking off a certain way and hill assist holds me back sometimes. Wish there was a way to disable it. It's probably great for someone new to a manual, but my first car was a stick, more years ago than I want to admit, so I find it more a hinderance than a help.

Is there a fuse that can be pulled?

I don't like it as it takes more effort to overcome thus making easier to stall the car.. our gen 5 had it also...

I haven't looked, because as I said, it doesn't kick in very often, just find it annoying when it does. But now you got me wondering. I WILL have an answer by morming. Not relying on the fuse diagram either. Hubby pulled the starter relay one night, as shown in the diagram, all it did was disable the backup camera. Needless to say, he should not have been that confident that I couldn't take the car if I wanted.

On the fifth gen forum there was a thread on this. On the 5th gen the yaw sensor is under the center console and can be replaced with the yaw sensor for the automatic and it completely eliminates hill assist but keeps all other functions of the yaw sensor without tripping a check engine light.

Not sure if the 6th gen is the same.

My Camaro does not have this feature and I am glad.

I had an ATS manual and it had the hill start assist. I was not a fan but got used to it over time.

I good trick is to let go of the brake, wait 5 seconds, and the brake disengages. Then just roll off the clutch like you're used to. I got pretty good at anticipating when it would release and was actually kind of a fun game to play to get it just right.

If we had a hand brake, it wouldn't be much of a deal, but of course, the 16's don't. The only way I can think of making it up an extremely steep hill without the hand brake, would be to quasi-heel-n-toe it. Is that what you mean?

Personally, I don't find it very intrusive. Clutch clatter is more noticeable than the hill assist, to be honest.

Does yours have hill start assist? We basically have the same car and I am certain mine doesn't have the feature.

Never used the e-brake/hand brake on hills before. Do people do that? I've always relied on my ability to just not roll into the person behind me. Maybe it's old-school(non-millennial) thinking, but if you REALLY know how to drive stick, it's not an issue. I was taught with the "Just don't do that, dumbass" mentality. Not PC these days, but very effective.

Not even sure what "Heel-n-toe" is, to be honest, just know how I've always driven stick, and the hill assist is annoying sometimes. My opinion.
