Onstar shenanigans

I bought my car in February and was told I had 12 months of free onstar services.
I just noticed they are charging me 35.65 per month!
Called my dealer and they will take care of it.

Be advised...

How would they be charging you unless you gave them your credit card?

My salesperson advised me to not give them my credit card unless I wanted it after the trial period.

I never gave them my card either mine has 12 months xmradio but not onstar

Mine has 3 months of Full-Trial On-star, and 5 years of Basic (Free).

I think mine was 6 months full OnStar, and 5 years of basic (unlocking doors from your phone)

Feel like I got jacked. I only got 3 months onstar and 3 months sirius. Made a point of not giving any payment info.

Mine was 6 months free and if you give them a CC to put on file they will increase the 6mos free to 8mos free. Which is what I did. They said you can cancel after the free 8mos if you wish.

Imagine how many people will forget to cancel their subscription after 8 months.
Plus, they probably put you on hold forever when you say the word 'cancel'. Thieves. lol

So I know you should get 12 months of SiriusXM...

But I thought OnStar was just 3 months, but I have been seeing this "basic" service is good for 5 years thing now...is that what we all SHOULD be getting?

I know the full has live navigation help, help with locating gas, food, etc,...so what is basic exactly? Just what you can access from the app on your phone, nothing live? I assume it's pretty basic if it's free for 5 years.

They now have your credit card. You should only do things like OnStar, Sirius, and other "recurring" charges from a prepaid CC so you can control the payments. These service are as bad as DirectTV when trying to cancel. Sirius is the only one that you can really get a deal if you push it - from $15/month down to $15/year! But they still have your CC!

It's all "No Customer-Service" things. The nicest thing is the auto unlock should you lock the keys in your car (it is possible under the right circumstances even with the technology built in). Diagnostic reports are nice too.
