Getting a little more boost out of stock pulley
I downloaded this app that works with an OBDII bluetooth plug-in and have been messing around with it. The app accurately read my boost at 6psi for my first attempt at using it I did not log the data that time, but simply plugged in and looked at the dashboard on the app. The stock dashboard just gives you a round number.
A couples day later I installed a K&N air filter for the SS and figured I'd give that a try so I wouldn't have to keep buying paper replacements. I also like cleaning it often, which I can't do with paper. I really wasn't expecting much, but figured it would breathe a little better with a clean filter. After installing it into the stock air box, I logged data from another 2 commutes into work (same as the first). Dash Command is now telling me that I'm getting 6.818 and 6.963. On the dashboard, it was displaying 7 as my psi. I wasn't really expecting my boost to change, but after speaking to a friend who owns a speed shop he told me he's not surprised that I was able to squeeze a little more out of it.

Cool. I guess congratulations are in order. Small change and you got positive results

lol, thanks man. Actually I'm happier about something else...just got an email that my Forgeline's are FINALLY shipping today
![]() But yeah, this is cool too. More of an FYI for any of the guys running a super charger. The air intakes out there won't fit on straight out of the box on our cars because the connection is at a different angle. Cold Air Inductions was actually at Jannetty Racing when my car was getting done. The Mishi CAI might fit but it won't be sitting right if it does. Replacing the stock paper filter with this should give anyone running a SC a little bump in output. It's nothing really noticeable, but it's cheap and it helps. The only thing that I noticed was that I was able to hit 140 on the same test pass that I was only getting to 130 on before (you run out of real estate). My last test on the same stretch was also before I had added the blade spoiler, so the aero might have contributed to it too....or it could be something else. Hard to say, but I definitely did get up to speed quicker this time around and the weather conditions were worse (heat & humidity).

Just wanted to let everyone know that the readings from the app I used could be wrong. I'm not sure why, but someone I trust dyno'd their car before and after like I did with a K&N and Maggie and the gains were minimal. They did not see the amount of extra boost that I did.

ADM picked up a significant gain (in power, not boost)with a cold air intake system, I believe it was the LT4 conversion thread....maybe something you may want to look into.

both Magnusson and LT4 installs have picked up up to about 40hp (with tuning) and 1lb of boost with aftermarket intakes

I don't disagree that you would have restrictions on the exhaust side, especially with a FI car, but I would not dismiss the cai so readily. I believe the accordion style intake tube....turbulent air...is cheaper to make for the masses but ideally a smooth tube will provide the best scenario when you are at the point you are at. From a dollar and sense point of view(in your case specifically), if the claim is true that you may gain 40hp for $400 then your bang for the buck is a solid purchase.
Just food for thought, I enjoy reading the progress you've made with your ride.....thanks for sharing.

I just have my doubts...if we can already maintain the correct balance when we drop to one size smaller of a pulley keeping the stock air box, what's going on in the "required tuning" that enables this to add 40hp? Dropping to a smaller pulley is definitely cheaper and it's going to turn your rotors faster to generate additional boost. This, I just can't put the pieces together on.
