Without sounding like a jerk, do you know for sure this is true? I always thought you could not get the 20% at all if leasing.

If you are correct you will have made my next lease much cheaper.

Not being a d**k but i would never even think about buying a V6 camaro lol. Op why not get a base 1ss V8? If it were I that's what I'd do or get a V6 accord or something else. The V6 Camaro's are not bad cars but will take a huge hit when you get ready to sell or trade (as with all cars) but the 6's more so bc they are less desirable by most looking for a real sports/muscle car.

Only options are v6 and auto.

Do you think this is a good price? The dealer told me that the bonus tag for leasing is only $500 not the full 20% off if I purchased along with their discount. Can anyone confirm that is the case? Doesn't the dealer get fully reimbursed for the 20%?
Damn fine deal. I paid $30k for my base v6 auto with sunroof back in May.

I asked for the residual for the Camaro I was looking at and he told me the residual after 36 months/36k miles is $17152. I would be buying at $22343 even though list is $29795. That's only $5192 in depreciation over 3 years. I know that's not likely the price I would sell after 3 years but it's a good estimate.

As far as why v6, only because of cost. If I had some money, I would buy a Z06 and skip the Camaro all together. It's probably the best new car price for performance, that's why I'm looking into the car. I'm also looking at an used 2011 BMW 335i coupe rwd for 20k.

At best, an equivalent (A8) 1SS is another $10k on top of the OP's find. That is a fantastic deal, as good or maybe even better than $22k for the V6 for those with the disposable income, no other debt, ahead of schedule on nest egg, etc. For many of us though, where the LGX is more than sufficient performance, the difference is not justified.

V6 Accord coupes are also going for around $32k; maybe that's worthwhile for the right buyer, but the Camaro (with any engine) has huge upsides over the Accord for many of us. Out of curiosity, would a V8 Accord, if it existed, be a smarter purchase than a 1SS for $42k?

Regarding the huge hit: it's a $22k purchase. If a V6 1LT loses say, 50% of its value in 4 years based on $29k MSRP, that would yield a value of $14,500, or a loss of $7k from the OP's purchase price. Would a 1SS do much better in 4 years than a $7k loss? In the meantime, the higher purchase price of the 1SS means that the buyer either floated more to purchase the car or paid more in finance charges by carrying a larger balance.

OP, I'm sure you've been through the thought process already. Either the 1SS or the 1LT are terrific choices for various reasons. The V6 1LT is a solid buy at MSRP, and a ridiculous deal at $8k off.

I think the Accord is a boring but nice appliance. But I can't reasonably afford or want to take out a long loan. I get the nuts and bolts of a Cadillac ATS without paying double the price. Again, if I had a lot of money I would skip the Camaro all together and go Z06.

For the 22k I paid I can't complain about the performance for the V6. I have a motorcycle and I drive 25 miles to work and another 25 back monday-friday, so I'd probably be using the Camaro more on weekends and rainy days... For the way I'm gonna use the car I can't justify spending an extra 10k for the performance.

Seriously. Even if I were to trade in my new 2016, it'd still be a good deal. I say take that deal OP and don't look back!
