Do you need that 300 milliseconds? I guess if you're drag racing. So I was curious and googled the speed of a blink of an eye and found this:

"A real blink of an eye takes 300 to 400 milliseconds. Since there's 1000 milliseconds in each second, a blink of an eye takes around 1/3 of a second. Compared to the time span of one full second, a blink of an eye is an eternity."

So in other words it's an eternity in the 1/4 mile. Otherwise it seems you've already made your choice...might wanna stick with it bro.

But.... This time im thinking auto. 2 reasons. First the 8 speed auto is faster buy .3 seconds and with the paddle shifters you can shift sort of like the high end sports cars and super cars. Which to me makes it more modern. But the real reason im thinking about going with the auto is the Camaro is a lot smaller inside then my Scat Pack Challenger that ill be trading. And i have kids that will go in the back seat. With the auto i wont need that extra front seat shifting room and ill be able to move the front seat up more to creat more room in the back.. It sounds good in theory. Lol... Am i right? Obviously when i get there im going to test both out with the kids and then make a decision.
8 speed definitely. I have the 6 speed & it just makes you feel you're one with the car.

Thats right.. .3 tenths is around 3 car lengths in a race. Which is a lot. And youd be ahead of the mod game as far as trying to get more speed. Its still a tough call for me though cause i do love shifting. Lol

FWIW, I'm 6', 215 lbs, and I made my 13 y/o daughter ride in the backseat before committing to my 2SS vert. I would never buy a sportcar without a MT (well, I did once, a corvette, and got bored and sold it in a year).

Manual is more fun and engaging. As for speed, there are people who have done 4 second runs with the 6spd.

Thats definitely true. I love shifting and rev matching. Man those guys hitting 4 sec must have a robot arm. Just kidding. If its a really good manual its definitely possible.

if you are considering the auto, i would make sure you are satisfied with it as it sounds like you like manuals from your past... to me the paddle shifting in these or the vette are pretty much a joke, you are pretty much an adviser in terms of shifting it is not very responsive IMO when i have driven the autos... this may not matter much to you but worth making sure you try it

You won't notice the .3 of a second unless you're competing in drag race circuit. lol If you can drive a manual effectively and quickly, you will still beat autos. As I said the lag with paddle shifters can be beat by someone that can drive a std effectively and can shift quick. l am 6'2", kids are tall too. As said in the matter of a yr or two the kids will outgrow those back seats. So I wouldn't sell yourself short. Sounds like you are set on the auto so its all a mute point anyway. Too bad, the M6 is a bad ride ;}

Im definitely not sold on the auto. Trust me my soul wants me to pick the m6.. I was just thinking as i said with the auto i can move the seat up more and .3 tenths was a bonus.

Personally don't care for the AFMs on the autos(would have to get that bypassed). M6 more enjoyment.
