Taking the blackout to the next level.

I love blacking out graphics...windows, lights, chrome accents...I'm not a big fan of chrome or silver. So after I blacked out the lights windows, and chrome accents I thought I was done, then I walked to the rear and saw the polished exhaust tips. Polished no more

I'll get better pics tomorrow with the new wheels.

I'd rather know how you did it than the picture… Little more detail?

Well it wasn't done in an easy way. So I knew I wanted to do the black tips for a while and I also wanted to do a muffler delete or maybe XR-1s. So last night I cut off the muffler off and was gonna take it to a muffler shop to get the tips put back in place, and decided to paint them while they were off. Just used VHT high temp engine metallic paint from autozone. SP405 black pearl to be specific. Long story short the stock muffler is back on with the tips painted now!

So nothing fancy or clever, just tried to kill two birds with one stone... only killed one though lol

Not sure how that will work with the heat from the exhaust. Seems like it would melt.

I stand corrected. Since it has been on there for a year I'm assuming he likes the look. Maybe its time to paint or powder coat for durability.

What color did he do? Pics?

Just the regular black, it wasn't on a Camaro, it was on his Mustang. I didn't think it would hold up either, but it has. It's just IMO a "dull" finish.

Walmart, $4 rattle can of Outdoor High Temp grill paint. Heat no problem and lasted 2000 miles so far. Matte or Flat

I used Semi-Gloss High Temp Engine paint on my tips, looks great and lasting well so far.

With how exposed the tips are I would think it's pretty easy to do without removing anything. I'm gonna try it myself eventually with VHT spray paint. I'm just gonna cover everything around it with cardboard or something and spray in and around the exhaust.

I have a 2-post lift at home, so i raised my car on the lift and unhooked the exhaust out of the first 3 sets of rubber hangers so the rear half of the exhaust would drop down and give me room to paint (still used body shop paper to cover the rear just in case of over spray)
I also considered removing the rear valance, but i think this way was much easier.
