OEM engineers have pretty much figured this out. The factory box will do everthing you need, they have bigger inlets now and ducted from the cooler air in the fender wells.

Here's a video showing some of the processes used to create our system. Our cold air intakes are honestly built like no other! I hope you enjoy the video, and notice the time, effort, and pride that goes into building each one of our products.
Thank you for your interest! Michael |

Bought my rotofab and could not be happier. Definitely some gains that were had and I would not even consider the garbage CAI, mishimoto, or AFE has to offer. Rotofab actually did their homework unlike the other brands who just release it and try to make a buck.

Go tool up your own and report back how much money it cost you to produce a quality piece. Then tell us how much it will sell for so you can not only recoup your money but make a profit to make it worth doing in the first place.

However, I intend to go forced induction in the future and am slowly building up to see the best gains I can from that. Cold Air, then exhaust and headers, then SC and tune, possibly with a few experiments en route. If I were keeping otherwise stock, I wouldn't drop $400+ on a cold air intake. I don't think the car needs it, and the gains are not noticeable from the drivers seat. They WILL be noticeable if you apply it to forced induction, as the OEM system will then become a restriction - it's simply not designed to flow that much air because it doesn't need to. That isn't to say the stock system won't work with an SC - it absolutely will! But you'll get much larger gains with an aftermarket system at that point. Anyway, my advice would be to grab a drop-in filter if you're just looking for something you don't need to change for a while. If you have money to burn or want to go much further in the future, then the Roto-Fab is great and won't be a disappointment. It's certainly a great piece of dress-up. |

Is it true that the ECU adjusts the tune based on the mix it senses and therefore, unless you tune any gains will be temporary until the ECU tunes out any added HP or worse throws a code?

So far out of the 2 CAI's i had purchased and installed i would personally have to say Cold Air Inductions over the Roto-Fab. That's just my opinion after driving with both of them on a stock set up. Not a numbers guy but the three things i can say about the Cold Air Inductions is it looks, feels and sounds better then the Roto-Fab "TO ME". If anyone else has installed both i would love to hear about their feeling between the two. My car was one of a small percentage that had this Throttle Body whistle noise enhanced by not just Cold Air Inductions CAI but Mishimoto's as well. The reason i bought the Roto-Fab is because Sledgehammer confirmed there was no whistle noise which there wasn't. After Cold Air Inductions sent me there whistle eliminator recently i gave theirs another shot and my mind was made up which was staying and which will be sold soon. They are both quality products and deserve to be on the market 100%

After extensively data logging with our CAI, a very knowledgeable forum member had this to say about the system: "Your intake is still the only one I would recommend to anyone. The lack of any MAF skew is exactly why anyone unwilling to tune should select Rotofab. The FI install proves it brings value to a modified car." -tsloper Thanks for your interest! Michael |
