Sadly I cancelled my 1LE order today

Well after being on the fence, then off the fence (ordered a 1LE), I cancelled my order today. Although I know it will be a great track car, the wait (for business/tax reasons) and the constant stream of $8000 off, then $9000 off of "in stock" 2016 SS's emails from multiple dealers here in the bay area did the deal in. So with that said here is my new "track" car (and the wife's DD): 2011 Spyder with 13k miles, pdk etc. I picked it up for $46k and it is the rare color combo I wanted, so yes more $$ than more than a "brand new" 1LE, but I doubt I will ever see any depreciation. If the 1LE turns out to be as good as promised, I will pick one up late this winter (dealers that end up with them in stock in the northern states will deal deal big time, as I found out on my last 1LE). So starting in December I will be back out at Laguna and if ANY of you want free instruction (I am instructor with most) or some general track knowledge, just hit me up...I will obviously be easy to spot!

Bummer on the 1LE but my god, excellent choice!! I narrowed my choices down to a used 981 Cayman S or an SS 1LE, and ultimately decided on the 1LE because I prefer to lease and the insurance was waayy cheaper on a Chevy (haha).

Mine will definitely be out at Laguna once all broken in... look for the "CPN SLOW" plates. I run with HOD most of the time.

Thanks, it was a tough choice

LOL.....you know what is crazy though, my insurance is less on this than my 2015 silverado 4x4!!!!!! $89 per month (i carry FC 300k/300k) for this one to be exact. I am not asking them any questions! EVER!

Thanks! I have never seen one with factory deviated carpet colors before and that was the deal maker. I love the red leather interior in these cars but HATE the red carpet that usually is with it.

Beautiful car.
@Backeddy: You're a track instructor?! Do you have any suggestions for someone wanting to get into track racing as a first time?

Wheel to wheel or just track days (although most groups I play with are "race like conditions" in A groups)?

Very hard to go wrong with a P-car.

congrats man! I know you've been really high on the Spyder and I think you made a great choice. That 987 is in some ways a better pure driver's car with better feedback than the beloved 981 Spyder that everyone seems to love today.

I've thought seriously about a 987 Spyder in a manual but it's just not a good enough car in the rain and with the top down for my tastes right now. If/when I move back to so cal, it could be a different story.

Enjoy it and let us know how it does on the track

I was never really a Porsche guy either (did have 944 track car though) but the lines on this car are going to be timeless. From the PITA Bimini top to the bubbled rear deck it just screams drive me. I could run 1:42 laps in the 1le at laguna Seca so I am really looking forward to seeing what it can do... there are 1:41 laps posted on YouTube so I have high expectations. Still it is old tech compared to the new 1le, so it is going to be interesting...can't wait to see the 1st one in the wild!

I like the look of the Spyder compared to the standard Boxster. However I thought it was more of a toy than a daily because of the thin roof.

Wish the new Exige was sold here..

That would be a correct assumption. It doesn't make a good daily, unless you're driving the car with the top down all the time with not much highway driving.
