I have no direct experience with the centris., but some experience with turbos. I'm now a convert to the PDs. While track times are important, I suspect you'll be using this car as a daily driver. This is where the PDs are a hoot! That post by Edelbrock at the track is pathetic! That's as bad as me behind the wheel. Love to see your results E-Ray. |

I'm so torn on what to save for. I was thinking Maggie, then Procharger, but also LT4 because I'm within an hour from ADM. The Edelbrock video is a bit sad though so that one may be out for my choices.

And there are many more vids/write-ups like this for both the Maggi and the E-Force. If you want to boil the theoretical differences down between the Maggie and the E-Force, the Maggie flow is "over the top" with slightly larger intercoolers and the E-Force flows "under" the S/C to give it a longer, 12", runner path for better low end torque. Both are great designs, making it a tough choice. |

Just sucks that the ONLY video I can find on YouTube showing an Edelbrock E-force SC equipped 2016 Camaro SS running the 1/4 mile is the most pathetic one you can imagine. Seriously, the video needs to be removed. Why the hell they would show the time of likely their slowest pass that they obviously had issues with especially due to the MPH is beyond me. Someone needs to take theirs to the track. ERay I hope you do! But here's a question for you guys following the warranty guidelines from Edelbrock, can you go to the track on street tires and not void your warranty? I ask because it has fine print in the warranty contract that says something about, void if damage results from being at track or something to that language.

Here's a vid of mine doing a little 50 roll in nasty humid bad density altitude weather.
It was just about to storm. https://youtu.be/d-5qfq2FZ0s I actually timed it and compared it to a run I did back in February (cool 50 degree air, 46% humidity, and -58' density altitude) and the car went from 50-90 mph 1/2 second faster now versus then.

Back to my original thread topic. I'm surprised that more people haven't ran their cars at the drag strip with their superchargers. I'm hoping to see more real world results to help make my decision in which route to take. Ten second time slips are my goal to start out with.

Procharger is killing it with the Camaro SS.
Did you guys see the build that Vengeance Racing did with the Procharger and some other little goodies?? Big numbers and the car runs! ![]() There is a video on Youtube. |

All I can do is cringe... Wow, youre going to take a major 15k+ financial hit on that strategy! Why not get an older car thats 15K less to begin with and boost it if all youre interested in is time slips. Every couple years, upgrade the boost or swap internals - not the whole car! Hard to find buyers who will buy a hard driven torn up car 2nd hand. Whenever I shop used, always look for stock only setups, even if the S/C was pulled off - car is never the same after. I know this is about track times (which I could care less about) but thought someone may find this useful who is on the fence which S/C to buy and, for now, wanted to start with F/I on a mostly/all stock car...
Just spent the day talking to 10 speed shops here in Phx - think I hit them all. My criteria was that I was not going to track the car, didn't need to jack up boost as its a DD and wasn't planning on swapping internals into the future keeping it near stock. Without any sway as to which S/C I was looking for heres what was recommended: Whipple: 3 Magnuson: 6 Procharger: 1 I heard many times that the Procharger was far more prone to problems, didn't spin up nearly as fast as whipple and magnuson and better suited for a car that's been gutted and updated - some went as far as saying its total crap which was surprising considering that's what I was originally going to buy (price). The Whipple was highly recommended more for an already modded car or for a car that will be heavily modded in the future as it provides more power OOB. Magnuson was hands down the recommendation if you want to be closer to stock (me). Often said on a stock setup, better low down torque. All 3 have room to grow obviously. The quoted cost of the Magnuson/Whipple install and tune ranged from $8400 - $10,200 (avg was $9400). I didn't steal the S/C and don't own my own shop nor have favors to cash in - so count on that being the norm cost. Ignore others who claim much lower prices - donut shops arent reliable SC installers. Tuning is a HUGE factor..so find someone who has worked on lastest gen Camaros..that alone swayed me to not go with the lowest bid. I got burnt out scouring the forums getting recommendations from 50 different people all telling you why theirs is better (cause they bought it!). The best source of info are guys who do this all day and have installed all types of F/I systems. I encourage you to call your local speed shop for informed facts. I didnt ask about Edelbrock because I had a lousy experience with one on a 2015 GT mustang...but it was never the first choice of the speed shops. That doesnt mean its not a great product however. Given the choice of F/I on a stock setup vs swapping out cam, headers, cats, ported TBs...etc I prefer F/I using as many factory parts as possible for HP gains giving you a much better chance of having a long term reliable car that kicks ass and can actually pass emissions. If you live to track, then little of what Ive said applies...for everyone else, hope this info helps somewhat. Real tracking is done on curves anyways!

Yeah and I'm sure profit margin factored nowhere in anyone's decision process for making those recommendations.

I'm in Phoenix and when I was looking for a Performance shop I was hard pressed to find 5, I would be interested in knowing where the other 5 Speed shops are. The main players that specialized in LS platforms are J&R Performance, Top Gear, CPR, Extreme and RPM. The others seem to do all brands and not focus on one in particular. After interviewing and researching the big 5 I went with J&R, besides great referrals they also specialize in Camaro's. Seems like everytime I've been there its a shop full of Camaros which makes me feel more comfortable knowing they specialize in Camaros. Not to get to far off topic, I went with the Maggie Heartbeat on my 5th. I've seen a couple of the 6th gens they put Maggies on and I'm leaning towards upgrading to a 6th Gen myself, waiting for the 1LE and then will decide. |
