First of all, congrats on your new ride. It should be awesome and I look forward to pics as soon as you get it. I am in the same position you are and have been told 4-6 weeks. I have no idea how accurate that is nor what that entails but it seems like an awful long time for QC.

So it looks like the Gen 5 ZL1 had an official "hold at the factory that lasted 2 solid month (Feb & Mar 2012). The first units started production after lunch on 3/29/12 and rolled onto the trailer for shipment before end of day the next day 3/30/12. I doubt ours will crank out that quickly, since we can't parallel the Gen5 ZL1 production launch process to the Gen6, maybe a good guess for actual production is 1 week?
So can anyone else chime in on rough number of weeks we can expect to QC a new trim like this for a model with previous MYs? |

From my limited experience the dates at this point are a crap shoot. In end of September 2013 I signed a contract for a C7 Stingray from MacMulkin that had just moved to 3000 (Order accepted by production control). There were new constraints every week, cars held up and Bayed for months. I was told it could be anywhere from one to three months. By luck while many others had their cars held up, mine was in transit to me in 3 weeks.
Hold your breath, and cross your fingers - it's a nail biting ride from this point. |

Congratulations!!! I am so jealous. I’ve been dealer to dealer in SE PA looking for a dealership that has an allocation. And I cannot find one. I had one crazy one tell me that they did not get an allocation, but that they wanted me to put a deposit down. On a car you can not order for me? And this is the dealership I ordered my ’12 through. Very frustrating!

I was part of the 10/12 production week (first run) last year. Its safe to anticipate a minimum 4 week QC hold since the ZL1 is new - some cars last year were held much longer.
Then Logistics/shipping take over and it was a mess. You won't know exactly where your car is located or if its at an off site repair facility. The production codes and updates are not really meant to be end-user friendly since most people don't go to the trouble of ordering. First build week is not necessarily a good thing. It simply means your car is first to the big parking lot. When shipping started, its seemed like the last cars in where the first cars out. ZL1's could be delivered in December, some January. Becky is your best source - she has done this enough to have a pretty good idea of where your car is. I am part of the Phase 1 allocation with a 10/17 TPW - dealer Stingray Chevrolet near Tampa.

I remember small things totally spinning the production of individual cars off track. Specifically, I wanted pretty stripes running down the middle of my camaro. Guys that started the same TPW as me got there cars a month before I did. Turns out the stripes took the car off-line for product placement for a spell before being finished (I kind of picture a kid playing with his hot wheels on those plastic tracks and taking his favorite car off the track for a make-believe tire change and then pushing it back into the race. No??).
It's exciting to be back in the game.

TPW - 10/31/2016; Halloween! I was hoping to be one of the first, 10/17/2016 but two weeks later isn't going to kill me I suppose.
