I don't remember, I did see a tag at the LS fest that had that on his car. I don't know if that was his or not. Seemed very knowledgeable about tuning and a real nice guy. I like that thought of the e85 switch over and the extra power it makes. His stock runs were 11.98@119 and his fastest run that I saw was 11.72 and he may have run faster, I just didn't see a run after that one. Conditions weren't idle for sure. But that's a pretty nice pick up for a tune and e85, I think the big deal for me would be the sensor to switch back and forth. I do have hp tuners so it wouldn't be a big deal to switch tunes, but if you have to run the tank dry every time that would be a little bit of a hassle.

There is zero need to run the tank dry. The virtual sensor works very well.

This is encouraging news. Are you using just HPtuners to do this? Too bad you cant get ahold of a few gallons of true E85 to tune the flex fuel timing with. Seems like you'll be leaving some power on the table for anything over an E70 blend. Good work sir.

I'm actually considering getting some E98 and getting it to true E85 for the tune.

And yes... HPT.

Just a thought, not sure tuning to true 85% is a good idea unless you plan on using the E98 to keep it there all the time. On my ZL1 I have my DashLogic setup to show E%. It usually hovers right at 70 - 72% with pump E85. Also, in talking to Dave Steck some time ago, it seems there is little to gain above 70%.

The way the interpolation works on the ECM is that there is a timing adder table for Flex Fuel. At low RPM/load it is primarily taking away timing. At higher RPM/load it is adding timing. It will give you a percentage of the cell value based on the E %.

So on our ECM it is...

E0 -> 0.00
E10 -> 0.00
E20 -> 0.20
E50 -> 0.50
E80 -> 1.00

So for E70 it will be about a 0.83 multipler. I'll tune for the E70. If I end up with something closer to true E85 in the tank it won't be a significant delta on the timing adder.

I think 11.72 was his quickest time.

Ok, what steps would I need to take to make this happen and where do I send you all of my money? The 6th Gen Shootout is coming up. I would like to add this to my arsenal...

I agree, if you could write exactly what I need to buy and a step by step how-to for the lay man that'd be great. My only experience is bolt-on's so I wouldn't even know where to start for something like this

LOL

I've been logging most of my drives to look for any negative issues and so far everything is looking very good. My E50 blend is just about out so I will be at E80 tomorrow. I will be on the dyno next Tuesday afternoon to optimize AFR and timing. I really don't know how much it will pick up over my E10 93 tune but it will certainly be interesting to find out.

Stay tuned!

Do you have anything else done to the car or just the tune?
