Warranty on differential 2012 Camaro 5
Hello All,
I recently went to a local Chevrolet dealership to discuss a howling noise from the diff on my 2012 Camaro 5. I have had this diff replaced before, the first replacement was due to a faulty bearing within the actual housing itself with fragments of metal eating away at the gear causing the gear assembly to fail I now have the same issue, roughly 25K miles later. I visited the dealership, and it seemed as though they proceeded to advise me on what part I would be liable for, keep in mind, I have not tracked, modified, or supercharged this vehicle. I would think that the 100K warranty would apply in this situation. Anyone have any experience with this issue once, or more than once? Thanks In Advance Nino |

You will probably get better answers from the gen5 forums. A car that is a few years old in for service gets different treatment than a brand new car regardless of warranty status.
That said you will have to read up on what your warranty covers and go from there. If you don't like the answers you are getting contact GM customer service and complain to them. They can be very helpful advocates when you are having problems with a dealer. |

No direct experience with GM but if you get a part replaced on Warranty, the parts and labour usually have a one year warranty. This could apply in the following situations.
1. You get something fixed just before the warranty expires. 2. You get something fixed in the 3 year total warranty period and it fails again in the 5 year limited coverage power train warranty. For your repair I'm guessing they won't pay on some things like the whole axle case, chances are if they had replaced everything needed it wouldn't have failed again. That's where you may have to take it up with GM. |
