The Dealer Hurt my SS

I had a recall for the oil pick-up that I took the car in for. They had to put it up on the lift to check the part on the car to see if it had to be replaced or not. A few hours later, I got a call that it had the correct part and that I could pick it up. I was running late, so I told them that I'd pick it up after hours... I did so when it was dark out and when I looked at the car the next morning (Thursday) I noticed that my front fender was out of alignment. I took it over today and spoke to the service manager who told me that this is common on 5th and 6th gen Camaros and that it had to go to the body shop to be fixed. I am mad that they didn't fix it when it happened and I am assuming hoped that I would not notice, but am pleased that they are going to take care of it without making me fight over it.

He thinks that they didn't have the lift set correctly when they lifted it. Has this happened to anyone else? If so, is there anything else that I need to look for?

Look underneath for damage. If the lift wasn't aligned right to the jack points there's most probably more damage underneath. Check for bent pinch welds and check the rockers for cracks. Also look over that fender from every angle for kinks.

Damn that sucks, wtf why can't some of these dealers hire competent people to work for them. Get underneath and have a really good look, you take a new car in for a gm warranty repair and they wreck your car. Make them put it back like new.

The 5th and 6th gens have NOTHING in common.

5th gen = old outdated Zeta platform

6th gen = brand new Alpha platform

They don't share a single bolt

The sad thing is that the same thing used to also happen on the 4th generation Camaros all because they lifted them incorrectly.

It's the other way around:

5th gen = old outdated ZETA platform

6th gen = brand new ALPHA platform (Same as the new Caddy's CTS & ATS)

That would be shocking wouldn't it? A dealer MECHANIC who knows
how to repair a vehicle without damaging it.

Thanks for the feedback. I'll spend some time to get my head under the car to look for other damage too. I am definitely not taking it back until it's fixed perfectly. you don't think it will show up on car fax as having body work since they have to send it to the body shop to fix it do you?

Seriously, this is ridiculous. Lifting it wrong? Are they retarded? Every service how-to illustrates the correct lift points. I wouldn't let a shop do any further work. And I definitely would be making tons of reviews to ensure everyone knows they suck

A blind person would notice that

I hope that was not their strategy "let's hope he doesn't notice "

Ugh- feel for you. Can someone let them know these are not Chevy Monzas.
