Back to the track for more 10s.

Went back to the track on the 20th, added a bit more power (20 RWHP) with a touch more boost, but the weather was not on my side. With a DA of 3500 this time out compared to about 1800 last time I wasn't able to best my previous 10.816. None the less, the car ran great and it was fun to start working on my lights after so many years being away from the track. The last pass of the night (10.83) could have possibly broken into the 10.7s but I botched the burnout and didn't hook as good as previous passes. Learning that the Mickey Thompson drag radials hook really good - but they have to have heat in them .

Until next time...

Nice numbers! What size drag radials are you running?

I have a bunch of pulleys if you wanna turn the boost up more.

I now only have 1/8 mile track locally and your 1/8 mile times and speeds look awesome to me.

What size blower pulley? Who tunes your car and with what software? Sorry for all the questions. I'm trying to decide which way to take my car. What did your car run with the out of the box blower kit? Were you using there tune?

It made 550 RWHP with the base 98mm pulley and Maggie cal on 91 octane, never made a pass in this config. I tune the car myself with HP tuners and use the Maggie cal as the starting point. PE and timing are adjusted for the mix of 109 unleaded and smaller pulley to use at the track. The car made 612 RWHP with the 90mm pulley and I have just switched to an 85mm pulley to make the 630 RWHP - but still have more tuning to do with this pulley to get the most out of it.

Otherwise the car is completely stock except for a larger HPDI fuel pump. I'm not sure what will be the next limiting factor to making more power. Can't drop cats or add headers here in California. I'll probably try a CAI once I can get one that is CARB approved. The car is normally driven to the track then swap the pulley, tires, add fuel, reflash, and it's ready to run. Let me know if you need any other info.

Thx toohigh, great info. Great 60' times for a 20" drag radial and very consistent ets and mph. I know the maggies are higher but don't think you can go wrong for the additional 3k if your going to keep the car. Qiuckest we've seen with the Procharger is low 11's.

Thanks for answering all of my questions. Your set up sounds like it works well. Which high pressure fuel pump do you use?

FYI toohighpsi, Hooker now has a set of shorty tri-y headers that are CARB approved. Bigger diameter tubes. Not much of a gain on a NA engine, but might give you a bit of an edge. Not expensive either. I'm thinking about them also.

Which Borla catback do you have? And why do you run a mix of 91 & 109? Is your tune aggressive when at the track and dyno? I assume your on straight 91 on the street.

Since the car is non NPP it just has a 2.75" pipes and mufflers (S-type), I know they have more options available for the NPP cars.

We run the mix of fuel to be able to be able to safely add more boost and timing at the track to increase power. The tune adds more timing, but it is not aggressive, these engine can handle a lot of power as long as there is absolutely no knock. At an elevated power level it just takes a touch of knock to break a piston.

We have just added water injection to the car (not meth) to use at the track, looking too see if we can run the same times on straight 91 octane fuel with just the addition of water instead of the mix of fuel. I'll post results once we can get to the track with it again.
