Nice...at this time, Camaros hold 5 of the Top 10 spots including the Top 2.
Looks like the Overall PAX list isn't updating with FS cars yet.

Looks like they still need to complete the other side of the course... I think. Then pax will be updated. Gotta be tough only getting 3 runs each way.

Looks like the weather is going to really mess with us today. Severe thunderstorms forecast for around noon with a chance of 1" hail.
Our run group should start around noon. :( |

After first runs on the west, Rotis is leading. Tight race at the top with a 5th gen 1LE and Scroggs in the Ecoboost mustang right there on raw time.

Looks like Otis wins with, Cormier and then Scroggs for the first 3 spots. Congrats Ryan!

That is a gigantic understatement! Ryan Otis won by a scant 0.057 seconds but Courtney Cormier was ahead by 0.054 after the runs yesterday! It is really interesting that a 5th and 6th Gen were so close, but I figure that the margin will only get larger for the 6th gen over time as more speed parts become available. My understanding is that almost all of the 6th Gens running there were essentially bone stock with the exception of running on Bridgestone RE-71r tires and an autocross alignment.
Two out of the last three National Champions have been Camaros in FS since the switch to 200 treadwear tires in Street classes. (Prior to that change the "Stock" classes, now "Street" classes could run R-Comps like Hoosier A6's) David Corsaro in 2014 in his 1LE, Bryan Heitkotter in 2015 in a BMW M3 and now Ryan Otis for 2016 in a 2016 Camaro SS! Interesting note that 6 of the 11 trophy spots went to Camaros, all but 1 were 2016's. The remaining trophies went to 4 Mustangs and 1 BMW. I really think the 6th Gen put everyone on notice this year with such a strong showing.

Huge congrats Ryan!!! In my mind, I believe Ryan single-handedly made the Gen6 a popular car to AX.
Posting what I posted in Camaro5 here too: Being a 5th Gen 1LE owner, this year's results is giving me hope that the 5th Gen 1LE is not obsolete vs the 6th Gen SS. Was interesting that there wasn't another e92 in contention this year. I wish Courtney was on here and could share his setup. I am betting that he didn't have very many changes to his car beyond tires and alignment. He might have had a rear sway bar. He most likely had stock 1LE shocks because Konis just came out. Probably had the just-released 305/30/19 RE-71R tires. I know Otis' setup is tires, autocross alignment + front sway. Otis had access to the right-sized tires since the beginning. Not sure where the 6th Gen 1LE is going to go. If it's in FS, it's definitely going to be the car to get! Last edited by nilfinite; 09-09-2016 at 08:21 PM. |
