The 1LE is one incredible performance value. Tip of the cap to GM on that one.

Ok…tons of responses…I love it.
The GTPP fits in where the Gen4 camaro SS fit in. It’s a marginal upgrade to the GT as the SS was to the Z28. It comes with better equipment…but not top of the line track ready equipment (that is where the GT350 fits in, and was previously filled by the Boss 302). You can go to any Ford dealer and take a test drive in a GTPP equipped car…there is nothing special about them. The 1le will be far and away a special order vehicle. You will see some on lots, but good luck finding one to test drive. GM no longer has the Z28-SS hierarchy, so all of you get stuck adding on individual options if you want anything above standard equipment. As for that special equipment…the GTPP has some, but again…this is street oriented equipment that allows it to better perform at the track. It has better suspension, but not ground breaking. It has a better diff (for the track), but not groundbreaking. It has better brakes (for the track)…but again, not groundbreaking. The package is was cheap and a bargain at $2500 (it’s now $3000). The 1le comes with track ready suspension, track ready brakes, track ready tires, track ready seats etc. The package is over double at $6500. It’s a bargain for what it is. Think of it this way. When someone purchases the 1le, where would they be stealing potential sales from? Hint…it’s not the GTPP, when the 1SS is already quicker. It’s going to be the 1SS/2SS and the GT350. The 1le and GT350 are both the track oriented versions of their base counterparts. The prices do not have to be the same to include them in the same class. Weather they are a stand-alone model or optioned out doesn’t matter what class it will be placed in on a track. Ford just so happens to have an extra layer of vehicle in their lineup that GM doesn’t account for. Both the base GT and the GTPP compete for sales against the 1SS and 2SS, it’s just the way it is. |

I bet everyone who comes in to test drive a 1LE will be able to test drive one. Our dealer is going to order two once allocation allows us to do so. This isn't a 350. It a much more attainable vehicle to the masses than a 350. Sent from my iPhone using Tapatalk |

Are the brakes and tires track consumable prices comparable on the GT350R and 1LE? I think the GT350R tires will be much more right?

Who knows? My guess is they are going to be around the same price. Not much is known yet in regards to the new good years the 1LE is wearing.

I'm not going to address the arguments about RPO codes vs. "special models". The Z/28 was an RPO code long before it was a "special model". It means nothing. You guys keep telling yourself that the 1LE isn't meant to go head-to-head with a GTPP. The only other car in the Mustang lineup for you to compare it to is the GT350. That's making the "value" of the GT350 look worse and it's going to be real embarassing when it's time to figure out what a 6th gen Z/28 is supposed to comepte against. Also: Nice, tell us how you feel about a ZL1 vs. a GT350 when that comparison drops since Ford doesn't have a vehicle in its lineup to compete with it yet. |

You're stuck on the fact that the SS is faster than a GT, so the GTPP is the competition when that just isn't true. The GTPP is the up optioned GT as the 1LE is an up optioned SS. It just happens to be that the options are better up options. The same as the 350R is an up optioned 350. It has the next level stuff to make it the halo stang. The competitor to the 350 is the Z/28. It just hasn't come out in 6gen form. But when it does, that's the halo Camaro that will be the 350 competition. If there is a Z/28.R, it will be an up optioned Z. It's not rocket surgery. |

A GTPP base and a 1LE are over $7,000 apart...I'm not sure where you're getting "marginal" from that, unless of course you're going to require it be a GT Premium PP to "match" the 1LE.

To get even close to the SS 1LE content it needs to be a premium. And to be quite honest, the base Mustang interior is pretty crappy. The centerstack looks like it came out of 1990.
