I finished the y pipe fixture today, the long exhaust fixture is done also

Going to fixture the headers friday and work on the intercooler and finish the charge pipes this weekend (assuming the silicone and tubes come in between now and then)

Next week should be fixturing all the intake side and oil mounts.

all exhaust fixtures are done. Waiting on some material to come in and I will start building my new final pipes to go on. This weekend I order the last bits of material and when everything comes in it will all be final built and installed.

Going to be doing 3 dyno sessions

stock headers, stock intake mani, 2.25 y, 2.5 boost pipe to turbo NO CERAMIC COAT OR HEADER WRAP

then
new headers built by me, stock intake mani, 2.25 y, 2.5 boost pipe FULL CERMAIC COAT AND HEADER WRAP

then
with spool valve

the old billet intake will not be going on my car again. I am sponsoring my buds truck at Speedlab Creations (red turbo 5.3 lt engine)


He is already making nearly 800whp and has the supporting mods to really let it shine while i'm on a stocker engine and not really able to push thins past 650whp for a while

I am looking into other options for a intake manifold that can get the price down but not really happy with anything other than custom one offs. It is just to hard to compete in a mass produce market with Holleys new LT1 intake at $650.... I don't actually think it will fit the camaro6 and c7 vette though so I am looking at doing some reworking and porting service for the Holley intake to fit. Even still it really wont be necessary for people unless they are needing huge boost and extra fuel flow so I don't foresee much demand in it.

Sorry I won't post pictures of fixtures. That is in the lines of trade secrets... I will post pictures of finished products on the car soon though.

The spool valve is undergoing a little re-engineering due to a couple little design flaws it had. We are making the shaft smaller, the blade thinner and the ports were actually a tad small so it wasn't flowing as much as it should have. Also it had a slight bind near the full open position of the wastegate actuator so we are going to try a slight different angle to not hit this problem again.

Also like I said my day job I had went bye bye at the beginning of the month, I have a new day job making even more money and even easier work (sheet metal welder for a shop that does tables for hospitals and stuff... really easy work with a nice pay). Either way though it had me 1 week behind on bills and being a responsible adult I had to push the project car aside for a minute. Then after that my wife and I had our 2 year anniversary on the 16th of Sep so priorities first yet again...

All fab work should be finished and being installed around the end the month.

Around week 1-2 of next month the new headers will be installed and another dyno chart will pop out

then around week 3 the last dyno with all coating and wrapping done.

When everything is done around the end of Oct beginning of Nov I have to get a lift in my shop so I can do a c7 vette for a buddy who is letting me use his for product development. He is the organizer of the corvette club in Houston so he has a ton of guys lined up right after him

I am really anxious to see how this goes. I have always been skeptical of rear mount turbos, for the reasons others have already mentioned, but I must say I love the spool valve idea, and really has my wheels turning. Keep up the good work.

I'd wonder if 2.5" intake piping is too big for rear mount to compensate for lag. Will be interesting to see how it performs.

Still holding out hope that someone will kit out a FI system for the lgx.

The original system was 2.5in y pipe to a 3in boost pipe to turbo. All charge pipes are 3in

If you compare it to the twin turbo systems being built right now by other places we have so far dominated the down low performance second only to screw blowers so lag isn't that much of a problem

The v6 will be very easy for us to adapt the kit to. I have full intentions of doing this. Will need to borrow a car for a week or two to develop a ypipe for and fixture. Then all my current fixtures will work for it, just run smaller pipes and turbo.

Actually, if you compare your dyno sheet a couple pages back to mine, my car is making more power and torque everywhere below 4000 rpm. I must admit, your system is closer than I anticipated though. Your spool valve and piping changes have made your system spool quicker. Still not as quick as with the turbos right off the manifold though.

And that's just the boost threshold. Response is what people always hated about rear mounts.
The point that STS ended up with was reducing the size of everything so much to get some response, that they bottlenecked top end high power to that of a PD blower. So you ended up with the worst of both worlds, a limited power adder with lag.
Keep working on it and see if you can get response up and then on the same parts see if it can actually do any more power than a blower. That would be the key. It's super easy to do one or the other.

Your right at 11psi of boost you beat my 9psi.

This entire old system was very experimental.

Intercooler in rear was neat but wasn't working as planned.
IATS were getting hot so car was pulling timing on top end, I'm not 100% ready to chalk this up to placement though being that there was exhaust suit on the intercooler from the wastegate so deffently had some heat coming from that.

Spool valve had a couple hickups we noticed as we pulled it off. Mostly just those iats and the car not holding the timing, being that every 1 degree of timing is generally pretty close to 15hp it wouldn't take much to lose some hp from just a couple degrees drop.

Don't worry I'm rebuilding it and have no problem posting up numbers again.

Also take into account the differences in kits rather than just the overall hp

s475 turbo $680 (cast comp wheel good to 1050hp, billet wheel good to 1200hp but extra $500)
single wastegate $300



bw 7163 $1855 each
dual wg $300 ea

so even if I never actually make lb/lb of boost the exact same power, I will be blowing away all the twin turbo options with $/hp

I'm looking at the overall package, not building a all out race car.
I've spent my life building all out race cars and know very well how to do it.
At this point in my life I'm looking more just for a easy bolt on with big hp gains and a low $. It doesn't take much to build a 9 second car anymore. Why spend $8000+ on a kit when it can be done for $5000. That gives enough money left over for pistons/rods/headstuds and more boost
