I have the same issue. A8, NPP. It has become extremely loud lately. It has gotten so bad that I become annoyed while driving the car.

My dealership literally told me to turn the radio up. Really bad experience.

I got the impression the tech I drove with knew exactly what the problem was, but didn't want to share it with me or address it in any way.

I took the engine cover off and investigated myself. Playing with the belts seems to have no effect and infact, the noise doesn't seem to be a belt at all. It is coming from the area where I expect a spark plug or fuel injector to be. (Sorry not super familiar with this engine)

the sound i heard it happens when i release the clutch at 2500 rpm and lower, there is a metal sound or plate, i dont know but i took the car today to the dealer, im waiting to see what it is.
